This last week I've been having some minor heartburn at night, doesn't seem to matter what I eat and sometimes it occurs when I haven't eaten anything, just drank some tea. I would think Pepcid would be OK since they gave it to me in the hospital post-op. I thought I would try to find the chewables. What does everyone else think??

Pepcid would be fine. My surgeon has me still taking an acid pump inhibitor which is a bit stronger than Pepcid. Not really stronger, just different in the way it works so it's more effective. Pepcid would be good and chewable even better. If you get Pepcid complete it will help with existing heartburn too. The Pepcid alone will only 'prevent' heartburn. It won't do anything for the acid already released.

Thanks for the responses!! I went ahead and brought some Pepcid complete chewables while I was out today. Now I feel it will be fine to start taking them. I couldn't imagine there would be a problem, since I was given pepcid in the hospital, but wanted to make sure!

I am on a Prilosec everyday by Drs orders. So I am sure Pepcid is fine but I would let the Dr know at your next check-up. He may want you to go on something everyday.
