BREAD????????
My doctors and nutrionalist gave me the thumbs up for bread. They did suggest that it was toasted (haven't tried nontoasted) and light wheat. I use a break called "HEALTHY LIFE" it has 30 calories and 2 carbs a slice - and it tastes AWESOME! It also has 5g protien per slice. I usually eat a light whole wheat low carb Thomas English Muffin (1/2) with ham and cheese melted on it though.
Haven't tried rice yet.
I use a SF Heart healthy whole wheat bread. I do toast it. I used it last week to make grilled cheese sandwiches and yesterday morning I made cinnamon toast. I used a small amount of lite butter, sprinkled on some splenda, topped it off with cinnamon and then toasted it. I could only eat about 1/4 of the slice, but it was great for breakfast!
My doc gave me the thumbs up on bread too. Just told me to stay with a whole wheat variety. They also told me I could try rice if I wanted to. They said to take a small bite and wait about 15-20mins just to make sure it goes down okay. Sometime it can feel like your stomach is blocked. My dietician said the same things the doc said. I have had no problems with bread but I am still a little scared of the rice. I may get brave in the next little while though. Take care! Diana
My nutritionist gave me the thumbs up on bread, rice, and pasta...To be honest I can eat anything now. I don't eat much bread because it fills me up to fast..I can only eat a 1/4 of a sandwich and I'm full. I can't eat flour tortillas either however, I can eat corn tortilla and not get an upset stomach. I do eat spanish rice and other dishes with rice and I've never had a problem with it either. Everyone's bodies are different so It's one of those things you just have to try and see if it works for you.
