Is your weight loss slowing?

I haven't lost a lb in almost 2 weeks now. I've dropped sizes (I started at a 22-24 and I'm in a 14 now) but the actual weight loss has slowed drastically. I started at 272 and I'm at 219ish now which is 53lbs. I read about most of you losing so much more then that. I'm working out 2-3 hours a night 6 days a week. I drink 100-120oz of water a day. Getting in all of my vitamin and protien. I have to admit, I can eat more already. Isn't that scary? I'm also reintroducing more and more foods. Not great, I'm sure. How many calories are you getting in now? I'm avg. about 800-1000. Is that nuts? I had my three month follow-up a couple of weeks early last week and my surgeon and nutrionalist complimented me over and over for how well of a job I've done... why don't I feel like that? My surgeon said that I'm doing much much better then most of his patients. I've lost over 40% of my body fat and I'm where he wanted to see me at six months. Why don't I feel great about it? I'm feeling really down.

Megan, Yes and it is soo frustrating. My #'s are really similar to you pre-op 260 -size 22/24.... but I haven't lost as much. My loss is currently 42 pounds and size 18. I also read everyones success including you and I am sooo envious. You are amazing!! I understand your frustration, you are totally the model patient! I would be frustrated if I were you too.. b/c you are a exercise superwoman and you are probably thinking that the pounds should be melting off. Right? I can't believe the amount of exercise that you are doing. You are really inspiration to me and I am to many other on our board. Keep up the great work and you will probably have another one of those days where the scale jumps 5-7 pounds. Kristen

Well, you need to know that going to the gym so much, you are gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat. I myself have stopped losing as dramatically as before. I used to average losing at least 12 pounds a week for quite a long time, but it's down to about 2 pounds a week, if that. I go to the gym 3 times a week for 1-2 hours, and I have softball practice 2 times a week, and I have softball games on Fridays. I only get in about 500-700 calories a day and I can only get in between 60-100 oz of water a day. I don't eat snacks, I still never have the hunger or fullness feeling. Also, not sure if you have excess skin, but they say that weighs a lot too.

WOW! MEGAN - YOU ARE DOING great!! I have lost 50 lbs since my surgery on 5/15. I probably take in about the same amount of calories and yes, I am introducing maybe too many new foods!!! AND YOU ARE WORKING OUT!! Good for you. ANd remember muscle weighs more than fat BUT it also burns more calories so your weight loss will continue. I just looked at your profile - you are a beautiful girl!!! JUst be patient - we did not put this weight on overnite and so it will not come off overnite. I started out at 262 and now I am playing around 210. But it is just playing around that. I go to the Doctor next Thursday and so much wanted to be under 200 but I will not make it - OH well - we are still doing great!!!! A size 14 already!!!!!! WOW! I also started at 22/24 and am now wearing 18/20 but I have not went out and tried anything on - so I wonder what size I could wear??? I will have to do that soon!!

I feel as if you guys are reading my mind. I had surgery on 5/9/06. I started at 255 and today I weigh 216. I have lost 39 lbs. I feel that i am not losing the weight that I should be. I have a hard time getting my water in. I was just able to get in 6 cups for the 1st time yesterday. I know i need to ecercise more. I walk 1 to 2 miles every day. But I still feel I should be losing more.

Hey Megan I think it may be gaining muscle too, before I went back to owrk I was at the gym everyday, 2-3 hours a day. Now that I am back to work I am there 4-5 days but only for an hour. I weigh on the scale at the gym in the am once a week and I am averaging 3-5 lbs. It seems its a constant loss on the scale since I'm not there as much But you KNOW you are losing!!!!!!!!! Its in your clothes. Stop being so hard on yourself, we are our own biggest critics...my nutritionist says its good to build muscle.

****I had my three month follow-up Today** my surgeon and nutrionalist complimented me over and over for how well of a job I've done... why don't I feel like that? My surgeon said that I'm doing much much better then most of his patients. I've lost over 40% of my body fat and I'm where he wanted to see me at six months. Why don't I feel great about it? I'm feeling really down. MEGAN, I could have wrote this post myself!!!I went to the dr today for 3 mth follow up!!& was told EXACTLY the same thing. My Dr just kept bragging to the medical student!!!All I could think was I "only" lost 10 lbs this month.I know I am a lightweight I started at 228 lost 10 lbs before surgery & now down 40 more as of today!!So he said I have lost 40% of my body fat!!When I seemed down he showed me my chart- shows my % of excess weight that was body fat on my first visit was 112% today it was 70% He was very pleased with these #'s. So I guess as long as our Drs are happy we should be happy!!Even though it is hard!Just wanted you to know you are not alone!! ~Missy~

Your doing fine ..... ok GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had the same problem,,,, I went to the doctors yesterday for my 2 mth checkup {which was actually more like a almost 3 mth checkup} I have gone from 283 to 225 and my surgeon thought I should be loosing more.... I left soooooooooo depressed..... and after reading your's and others post feel like we are still loosing...... and doing the best we can and hey!!!!!!! when have we lost this much before....LOL. I guess the fear I have is that the weight loss will stop and then I be stuck,,,,,, I also wanted to say thanks,,,, for your posts... they have kept me from feeling like a failure....... I guess we all lose at different rates for the most part...... but still we are all loosing......

wow! we all are doing great and need to remember that!!!!!!!!!!! When ever have we lost 40-50 lbs and know we will keep it off????? OK - worse case scenerio - we only lose 5 lbs a month for the rest of the year? Where will we all be then? And that is probably definitely worse case scenerio? We probaly will lose closer to 8-10? How many of us then will be close to goal? And then think of where we will be at our 1 year anniversary? I do not know about anyone else but I will be at goal with 120 lbs off!!!!
