I had my surgery 5-4-06 and my cycle has been pretty normal until this month. I was a week early and I take birth control. I am concerned that maybe there is a problem. My husband says it's probably just from the stress of the surgery. I was just wondering if anybody else was having cycle problem even on birth control. I figure if this is all i have to worry about then I'm doing good. This surgery is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Almost 3mos and down 64 pounds. I am so happy! Your posting have really helped me so much to all of you...thank you! Keep up the good work! Diana

Apparently, most women start their periods while in the hospital--might be stress, who knows? Also, hormones are stored in fat, and when you break down the fat, the hormones get "un-stuck," and this can cause irregularities, such as missed periods and screwed-up cycles. Wild and crazy hormones can also cause you to be a little more fertile than you used to be, too. So have fun, but be careful!

I will be 52 years old this month and until surgery I had not had a period for 5 months. I thought finally...menopause. Then I had surgery and guess what??? the next morning after surgery (while in the hospital) I started! After I got home, I started again in two weeks. I seem to be fairly regular now, but unfortuntely my menopause dreams seems to be over for now!

Hah! I'm just like Gail - - I'm 53 and have only been having 2-3 periods a year for the last few years. I had my surgery on 5/25/06 and I've had THREE periods since then. Sh*t. I thought I was just about done!!!!!
