Protein bars.
Hi All!! How is everyone doing? Hope all is going well all over. I have a question. I am going to post this on my state board also. I (like so many of you) am so tired of what we get to eat. I want to know when we can safely have the protein bars. I had my surgery May 2nd. I do ok now, but would like something that I could take on the run when I have to go out. If I get a late start it takes forever to get it all in. If any of you know, please share w/ me. Nice to hear from all of you.
Sara.
Hi Sara!
I asked my Nutritionist and she gave me the okay to eat protein bars. That was at my 4 week checkup and I'm now two months out. Anyway, I went to Walmart and you can buy a bunch of different kinds individually to try ... most of them are just under $1 each. I picked up a bunch with about 20 grams of protein per bar and I've been trying them out. Most of them aren't bad ... much better than protein shakes, in my opinion! I tried the South Beach ones and they are a bit crunchy and grainy. But all the other ones seem to be softer and easier to chew up to a finer consistency.
Hope that helps!

I had my wls 5-3-06.Had complication 2nd surgery 5-14-06.doing well now & I have been eating the South Beach Diet bars.19 gms protein.I ususally do half for morning snack & the other half for afternoon snack.I have been buying them at Wal-Mart in individuals so I could find ones I like or can tolerate.LOL.At my 8 wk appt my surgeon told me to get my protein in anyway i could. So i took that as protein bars were ok.
