Hi to all the May 2006 Gang!

Hello all, I am doing well and want to say Hi to all those who had surgery in May. I am on mostly regular food with lots of restrictions on portion size and chewing. I have had a couple episodes of vomiting and dumping --- a little trouble with eating too much--mostly when I am trying something new. I am focusing lots on getting enough protein each meal plus vegetables and fruits. I tried on a couple of tempting occasions to experiment with my old bad favorites--ice cream and vanilla wafers-- and learned that lesson the hard way! I have lost 41 lbs since surgery on May 9. I weigh myself twice a week per the recommendations of my RNY dietician. I can stay on my path better if I know how I am doing every few days. I will return to my RN job on July 17. I am still a little nervous about eating at work so I am going to pack my meals each day for quite a while. Lots of luck and prayers to all of you! Thanks for the support so far from you JeanMarie

Hi JeanMarie, I had my surgery on May 8, just a day before you! I have also lost 41 lbs since surgery. I returned to my job as an RN in the middle of June but for only 4 hours a day and I am PRN so I usually only work 2 days a week. I found that cheese and turkey packs well with a little ice pack. Protein bars also work well for me at work. I am still drinking some protein drinks so I also use those. I am sure that you will do great. Do you have to work 12 hours? I know that will make a difference from 8. I also only weigh twice a week just to keep check on things. Everyday makes me crazy, although I think further out when I will be eating more food it will be more of a necessity to keep everything on track for me. I wish you well getting back to work. Keep up the great work. Pat

Hi JeanMarie You look great in your photo! Well done on your 41lbs Hope all goes well when you go back to work. I find I want to eat more when I am at work - my head going back to the snacking thoughts I think, but it's good to be up and about getting back into the normal routine.

So I guess it's true guys lose faster plus the bigger you are the faster too. Congrats to your lost poundage and getting on if life. I had a emergency hernia op fives after but that went fine. But then after staples were removed I've had the hernia incision open in two spot. BUT their finally healing plus my surgeon has given me the ok to start moving to walk. OK OK not to brag but I've lost 70 lbs. now. I'm Happy. Mike - the day after you'alls.

How true! Portion size and chewing are so important. I had the foamies last week-end and wow! I do not want to keep having them so I guess I better concentrate on my chewing!!!! I have not tried veggies yet - I keep meaning too but by the time I get my protein in - that is it! I have had watermelon, strawberried and grapes - no problem. Tomorrow I will be 8 weeks out and can try raw veggies (salads) - have you had them yet? Darlene

here is what I was told: artificial sweetner can confuse the body into retainging the weight. meals should only be .5 oz, no more, only three meals a day, no more only lean meats and leafy green vegetables for max ketosis, no carbs. the bigger you are, the more you lose, the smaller you are, the slower you lose the more fluids you get in, the more you lose. you have to move to lose
