I just wanted to see if anyone else was having the same problem that I've been going through for about 3 weeks now. Since surgery I've never been hungry but I still ate something every 3 hours, but for the past 3 weeks I really have no disire for food at all and I actully have to force myself to eat. Nothing sounds good, nothing tastes good and I'm just plain sick of food. I was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem and what you are doing to overcome it? WL-update 1 month 2 weeks out, and I'm down 37 pounds!

Hi Katie I'm 1 month 1 week out and I feel the same. There is one thing that I enjoy and that is SF popsicles. I figure at least it is a good way to get fluid in. They seem to calm my pouch. I'm hoping it will pass as altho' I love the weight loss I dont' want to stay like this for the rest of my life!!! Well done on your weight loss. I'm 31lbs down but haven't weighed for a week. Mindyou my weight loss seems to go in chunks - nothing for ages then loads all at once. I'll be watching this space to see if anyone else can help

Yes we all are there just out. But getting the water or other zero calorie drinks will flush the old fat out. I only eat one ounce between two or three times each day if hungry or not. But just proteins. Next monday will be 60 days out, but yesterday I'm down 66 lbs. Keep moving downward, Mike

Hi Katie, I am 8 weeks out and can totally relate with you. Everything after surgery tasted different. I am just now beginning to get my regular taste buds back. I really don't care for food at all, but try to eat twice a day. I am still getting the majority of my protein from drinks!! You are doing great with your loss, keep up the great work. Hang in there, everyone keeps telling me it will get better. We have the rest of our lives to eat!! Pat

Hi Katie, I was 7 weeks yesterday and for the past week, I am experiencing the same thing. I was up to 2 oz three times a day and now I can barely get in an oz three times a day. I just try to focus on protein and drink my shakes. I have no problems getting in my water and vit. I have lost 41 pounds and that includes the 5 day preop diet. It is so strange, food used to be my comfort and now I gag at the thought of eating anything. I know it will pass, but for now I have to make myself eat. Good luck to you!

I know exactly how you are feeling. I had surgery May 9th and I am lucky if I eat an ounce of food a day!! Some things sit with me very well and others do not. I have gotten sick 4 times and that is only after a bite or two. Probably from taking too big of a bite or not waiting long enough after drinking some water. Meats do not sit well with me, especially ground beef. But, at the end of the day, I will try a little peanut butter or cheese and crackers (wheat thins) and that feels ok. Some foods do sound good to me, but I will not go near them for fear of throwing up. I have lost 40 pounds now. Love the weight loss but do not like the constant nagging feeling the "Ya know what, you have to eat something, EVEN if you are not hungry" feeling . Hopefully this too shall pass for all of us! Keep up the good work. DeLaina

I am in the same boat as you. I have absolutely no desire to eat. I have to force the food in and liquids too. I know I have to get better with this because I am getting weak and dehydrated. I went to see my surgeon the otehr ady and the nurse practioner told me this was normal to experience a loss of appetite 6-10 weeks out from the surgery. I am focusing on water intake now; I have been down to only 25-40 oz a day which is nowhere near enough to sustain my body. I have lost about 32 lbs so fatr, and though I am happy with that, I need to muster the discipline that will allow me to work my new tool. That includes eating and drinking regularly. Anyone who thinks this is easy has not walked in our shoes. We will get there, we just have to have faith.

Count me in too! In the past 2 weeks, I've noticed a change in my appetite and taste - nothing seems very appetizing. The only thing I've been enjoying is chicken with gravy from boston market. THe first month after surgery I still had an appetite and a taste/craving for things, but not now! And I'm so tired of the protein shakes!!!! I can't get in enough protein without them. Good luck!
