Hi everyone, I am 2 months out and have only lost 38lbs(as of yesterday). It's almost like i'm getting discouraged. The nurse at my dr's office told me I hit my first plataue , but I feel like I've been at a platue for quite some time now. I was almost in tears yesterday when I saw the scale only moved 3 pounds in 2 weeks. I don't no what else to do. Someone please help me! A very sad, Tierra

Tierra- 38 Lbs and discouraged??? I'm 8 weeks today and at 36 lbs...and I'm told that's great....above normal for most! I had a slow patch for a few days...and I got down on myself for a few days...but I lost another lb...and woo hoo!...I'm back in business. Hang in there....our bodies have these plateaus as a reaction to the dramatic drop in calories...it's natural. Are you seeing the difference yet? I'm juuust at the point where people are noticing. That'll make you feel god! Huh?

There are many of us slow losers out there. Don't get down. If we all stick together it'll make us feel somewhat better, right? Your not alone. I have lost 31 pounds since surgery. That's more than I did in the last 10 years so that's something. Keep your chin up, and it'll come off. Take care of you, Debbie

If I was you, I'd try giving up weighing myself. From the beginning, I have gone for more than a week at a time without losing any weight at all. Then I drop a pound or two. I am also two months out, and I've only lost only a few more pounds than you. If you look at the weight-loss journals of other people on this site who started at your same weight (because how much/fast you lose depends on how much you had to lose to begin with), especially the ones who have posted a weight loss chart, you'll see that we're not off-track. Try to sit back and relax and enjoy the gifts that are coming to you! I'll bet your clothes are fitting better, no matter what the scale says! Hang in there, and relax.

Hey, we're tied! at 8 weeks I was down from 304 to 266. For me, this is great! I sometimes feel like I'm going slow when I read of others losing amazing amounts of weight each week, but in the end it does no good to compare one's self to others... we're all on our own individual journey. I only weigh myself once a week, daily can get too discouraging... just hang in there, and focus on how much better life is without those 38 lbs! best to you. Joe

Hi Tierra - I saw my surgeon for my 6-week follow up today, and she told me that I should not be losing more than 3 pounds per week, or more than 10-12 pounds per month. So, according to those guidelines you should have lost 24 pounds...you are way ahead! I hope this helps! Take care, Heather 254/233/206/140

my doctor (whom has done over 1500 of these surguries and is arguably the best) said that a 'REASONABLE' loss including plateaus is an average of 4 lbs a week. so 8 weeks x 4 lbs a week, is 32 lbs, so you are totally ahead of the curve. give your self a break, you are right on schedule.

Tierra You have hit a platue....it is hard to deal with!!! My scale didn't move for 3 WEEKS!!! Not one pound!!! Your body needs to do this....other wise your skin will be like it is falling off. I was so discouraged and so scared!!! Keep doing what your doing, change up your exercise and it will start again sometime, everyone is different!!! Don't fall into those platue diets....they aren't healty and remenber give your body time to do what it needs. And for you sake stay off of the scale, I drove myself crazy!!! Good luck!!!! Jennifer

These are the times when you kick yourself for not measuring yourself before surgery. Typically, I lose in groups. I'll drop 3-4 pounds in one day, then do nothing for a week. But it's during that week that I lose inches. For instance, ten days ago, I dropped six pounds over two days, and nothing since. Yet ten days ago I was in a "very fitted" size 24, and now it's really lose. Don't get obsessed with the scale. The reality is, at the rate we're eating, we're going to lose it. Unlike every other diet we've been on, we have the ability to make this work. And you are.
