MC DONALDS ANYONE?
Hi Darlene -
That's so funny - I've been craving McDonalds and I didn't like it much before my surgery. I think I'm craving salt and fat or something.
I think the cheeseburger without the bun is ok; the yogurt isn't sugar free so its probably high in carbs, but if you didn't dump that's great!
I hope it was good!
Take care,
Heather
Hi Darlene -
I'm glad you didn't dump and I'm glad it was good! You should know that I dreamt about McDonalds last night!! I'm finding that I've been craving salt and fat.
I've lost 22 pounds in 5 weeks, which is a bit slower than most people on this board.
I typically eat a protein shake for breakfast, a mini-lasagna for lunch (I'm happy to share the recipie), and some other protein source for dinner, like chicken with tomato sauce or something like that, and some roasted vegetables, though I can't get many veggies after my protein.
Congratulations! It sounds fantastic!
Take care,
Heather
Hi Darlene
I'm of the opinion that a 'little' of what you fancy won't hurt you (unless your body reacts badly of course). I'm sure others will disagree with me, but I want to learn how to eat without any banned foods and to learn to adjust my eating habits to suit my new body. I know that if I ban certain foods from my diet, I will crave them like crazy and may end up binging on them.
I think you made good choices (you didn't eat it all, just ate certain parts of it), just don't make it a regular thing - just an occassional occurrance. We don't want to become food freaks do we......
Hi Darlene
I've lost 17lbs so far. A little frustrating, but I'm learning to be patient! I'm not very adventurous as far as eating, although I did try KFC (kentucky Fried Chicken) the other day. I had a fillet, didn't eat the bun and chewed the chicken like crazy. My stomach seems to like chicken as long as I chew enough. I eat lots of yoghurt, cottage cheese, scrambled aggs, fish, mashed potato and porridge oats. It's hard to cook when I eat so little of it! At the moment I'm eating less than my 6 year old daughter. I'm beginning to get bored with the food I'm eating so I'll have to get more brave and try some new things.
Hi Darlene!
I think you did just fine! I actually had a cheeseburger from Burger King ... removed the buns and part of the hamburger patty that was hard around the edge. But it went down fine and no problems later either!
Also, when you're at McDonalds you could try getting a childrens Happy Meal. You can opt to get apple slices instead of french fries. The apple slices don't have skins on them and you can chew them up really easy too. Just another idea!
I think reality is that you are going to be in situations where you have to find something to eat off a menu at a place like that. As long as you're not doing it everyday and you're not eating the bun, I think there is nothing wrong with it.
Great job; don't feel guilty!

been there a couple times now... hahahaha
i had a snack wrap and OMG... mmmmmmm it was sooo nummy!!!!
i ate half of it, and saved the rest for later, and even later, it tasted good... lol
i really do agree though, i believe it's all in MODERATION!!!
where as months ago i would have ordered a big mac AND a filet-o-fish with extra tarter sauce and a large fries, and wa**** all down with a coke.... lol
when i think about what i used to eat and how much, it makes me sick!! ugh......
i'd be lucky to get down half of that fish these days!!
I'm down 38lbs now! so i must be doing something right huh??!!!
GOOD LUCK YA"LL
