How's everyone doing?
Wow Christi, you are doing really well...off all meds already. I am 3 weeks out tomorrow, but so far lost 14lbs the first week and nothing since!!!!I went back to work on Monday and have been fine. As I start work at 7.30am I was very tired by 9.30 but had warned by manager he may have to come and wake me up by this time so it was OK (ha ha). Today was like any other day. I just wish my weight would come off a bit more regularly. I am expecting a big drop again to make up for staying still for 2 weeks - I hope so anyway. How do you know how much 1 1/2 oz of food is? Do you weigh it?
Hope it goes OK back at work for you. Do they know what surgery you've had done?
I work at the hospital where I had the surgery done, I have a whole cheering squad there.
I just got back from the pool, 1 1/2 hours today. I tried to pick up the pace but couldn't yet, so I just walked/jogged the laps today.
1 1/2 oz is 3 tablespoons. I go by volume verses weight, since my pouch is small, Plus I eat real slow.
Get in your Water (at least 64 oz), protein (at least 60 grams) & exercise (at least 1/2 hour) DAILY and everything else will work out.

I'm so thrilled to hear how everyone is doing!! Fellow Mayers - we have a lot of VERY successful WLS patients! Congrats to everyone for a job VERY well done thus far.
I'm feeling back and forth about things. I thought things were going really easy - but was frustrated with my weight loss last week. I'm considered a "LIGHT WEIGHT" however and have been reminded numerous times by my surgeon staff (Nurse, nut, Surgeon etc...) that I'm doing well above avg. and I need to remember to consider how much body fat I"ve lost %wise rather then lbs lost. Yada yada. That being said I'm 32lbs down and 5.5 weeks out. I have my 6 week appointment tomorrow.
I agree with the other poster that said she had to work very hard already to lose what she has. I'm working out every single day both weights and cardio as well as following the WLS diet to a T. Getting in water and protien and taking all vitamins. Anyone that ever says that I took the easy wasy out - can kiss my SKINNY ass!
HI EVERYONE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!
i WISH i HAD NOTICED THIS FORUM SOONER! i AM SIX WEEKS OUT(5/5/06) AND DOWN 50 POUNDS. MY SURGEON HAS A PRETTY REGIMENTED PROGRAM - NO SODA, EVER, COOKED VEGETABLES ONLY EXCEPT TOMATOS, POTATOES, CORN AND PEAS - ALL FRUIT EXCEPT CITRUS, MEATS EXCEPT BEEF AND PORK, NO MILK OR FLAVORED BEVERAGES EXCEPT HERBAL TEA DECAF, NO COFFEE AND NO BREAD OR STARCHS. MINIMUM 64 TO 90 OZ OF WATER(WE'RE IN AZ)
OVERALL I THINK EVERYTHING IS GOING PRETTY GOOD. I HAVE TO GET CREATIVE ABOUT MY MEALS WHEN I'M OUT. I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED HUNGER YET AND I EAT ABOUT 2 TO 4OZ OF FOOD DEPENDING ON WHAT IT IS. I HAVE HAD SOME THROWING UP, I CAN'T EAT IF I AM STRESSED AND I DON'T TOLERATE EGGS RIGHT NOW.
MY FRIENDS AND COWORKERS HAVE BEEN VERY SUPPORTIVE AND ENCOURAGING. MEALS ARE REALLY A CHORE, I'D RATHER BE DRINKING WATER....EVEN AFTER MORE THAN 64OZ I STILL AM SOMEWHAT DEHYDRATED. THE HAZARDS OF RNY IN THE ARIZONA SUMMER!
I HAVE ENJOYED THE POSTS I HAVE READ AND DON'T FEEL SO ALONE!
KATHY ......THE CINCO DE MAYO MAYSTER!
I am 4 weeks out today and down 30 pounds. I lost 25 pounds of that in the first 2 weeks. The 3rd week I lost nothing ( played with the same 2 pounds all week) then this past week it started coming off again :D.
I can definately relate to the "no appetite so I have to make myself eat". I am still struggling to get all of my protein and liquids in but I am getting better each day (profect has been a lifesaver). I have yet to be "hungry".
I have NO regrets whatsoever.

Hi everyone. It's so good to hear everyone is doing good. I am 4 weeks out and have lost 22 pounds! I am very happy, considering my scale at home didn't move for 2 weeks. I guess it's broken. Anyway, the only food I have had trouble with is crabcakes. I think the filler is too much and it gets stuck all the time. I haven't dumped yet, but I have thrown up quite a bit. I have to learn to slow down and chew better.
I am in almost no pain and I go back to work on Monday.
I went through a small depression at about 2 weeks out and cried a lot. I thought I had done the wrong thing. Now, I am happy I did this and can't wait to lose all the weight.
Megan - you're right. I don't know why people think this is the easy way out!
One month out! I am down 30lbs! I am starting to feel normal again! I did great after surgery I started walking a little the night of surgery and the next morning woke up determined to walk out the soreness. I recovered quickly and started back to a normal life the Saturday after. I did feel very tired for the first few weeks my energy was completely gone but after I started pureed foods it has picked up but I am not my usual hyper self. I don't walk as much as I would like to I just don't have time I work full time and I am a full time mom. I am disappointed by the rate at witch I am loosing weight. For the last week or so I have been bouncing back and forth between 215 And 217. I get all of my calcium and protein in a breakfast shake in the mornings and my multi vitamin with the iron in for lunch. I don't get hungry in fact I have to remind my self. Over all I am happy with my decision. I know that in the end I am going to be a more happier and healthier person.
Brandy
Hey Brandy,
Just a thought,
"I get all of my calcium and protein in a breakfast shake in the mornings and my multi vitamin with the iron in for lunch."
Your body can only absorb 25-30 grams of protein in any 2-3 hour period. You might to check with your nut., but that's what I was told by mine.
Humbly,
Jeff
