I went to a friends 25th Wedding anniversary celebration yesterday. I was a bit apprehensive before I went thinking about the buffet and how I would manage with the food and stuff, but it was great. I made good choices and actually felt in control of what I ate rather than just going for all the 'goodies', eating too much, being embarrassed in case someone had noticed that I'd eaten too much and regretted it later. I real wow moment for me to control food rather than food controlling me, and I really enjoyed the small amount that I ate. Hopefully this is the start of things to come

Good Morning Ruth! I'm so proud of you, navigating a buffet is difficult. It really is an empowering feeling when you control the food and the food does NOT control you. My kids never thought i ate a meal i used to eat in hiding...not anymore. I want them to know that I got this way by making poor eating choices and that with some thought they don't have to. Keep up the good work and please know that this does NOT qualify as a mini WOW this qualifies as a HUGE WHOPPING WOW AND A HALF MOMENT!!!! hugs to you my friend, ANDI

I AGREE - THIS IS A HUGE WOW! I had my RNY on May 15th. My granddaughter's graduation open house was on June 2nd. But I did fine! Just stayed away from the food table. So what kind of food did you eat? I am so scared to try foods. Darlene

Hi Darlene I tried a piece of quiche, but that didn't go down well at all. A few bites of a tuna sandwich (after picking out the sweetcorn as this is difficult to digest), and egg sandwich and a chicken leg, which went down really well. I picked pieces of chicken off with no coating. I felt a bit like a picky eater, but it was fine. I sipped a glass of apple juice as I find orange jiuce burns and gives me pain and water immpossible to swallow without pain for some reason. The food all spread out on my plate looked Ok and didn't make me feel like a freak. No-one seemed to notice anything strange which is what I was worried about.

WOW! A sandwich (or part of it) already. That sounds great!!! DO NOT worry about what anyone says - we are doing this for us!!!!! I have not tried any juices yet as I heard they have to much sugar in them. I stick to water, propel and crystal lite. I want some ice tea but have been trying to stay away from caffeine.
