Weight Loss is SOOOO SLOW!
Anyone else frustrated with how slow the weight loss is coming?! Ugh!
I've been told so many things. Typical response is "OMG 27lbs in 5 weeks when else have you lost that much". Well thanks - but not my point. I lost 25 of it in the first couple of weeks. Here I am 5 weeks out and I haven't lost a single pound in a week - and the week before it was only a lb or so. My surgeon's office tells me that it's because I'm a "LIGHT WEIGHT" so it will take me longer then those that have more weight to lose. Well looking around this board ya'll are doing AWESOME. What the hell is wrong with me? I'm so frustrated.
I do cardio for an hour daily and circut training for 45min. I drink 80-100oz of water. Eat/drink 70-90g protien a day. I don't eat junk the only "BAD" thing I have is Eddy's Sugar Free Ice-cream (next to no calories, fat or carbs) and it's only a couple of tblspoons a night. I take all of my vitamins at the right times. I'm a flippin model patient what the hell is wrong with me?! UGH!
Sorry guys... I'm just WAY frustrated.
I'm sorry Megan!!! I kinda feel the same way, even though my exercise level is not up to yours yet.
I actaully said that to my mom today and she was like "dont ru****" But you just want it to go faster.
Its ok to become frustarted just dont become DISCOURAGED, keep doing what you are doing.
You will be fine &
Hey Meghan... I know you might think i am crazy or something but slow down on your exercise. You are more than likely building muscle and since muscle weigh more than fight you think you are not losing. I would suggest you try just walking or cardio for about 30 to 45 minutes a day and see what happen. I am not just speaking out the side of my neck I am speaking from experience it happen to me. As soon as I slowed the exercise I drop like 7 lbs...Hope this help
I know how you feel. I keep expecting that scale to display a firrect number every Saturday I get on it and so far, no go for the past three saturdays, unless you want to count last Saturday, when it went up three pounds. I may not be exercising as much as you, but I am moving, walking, playing with the kids household chores, etc, so I am by no means a couch potato. I feel that I am eating the right things too and getting in enough water. Why am I not losing weight? I mean even if I were stuffing myself full of carbs and sugar (I'm not), youre talking a couple of tablespoons full at a time at best. I only eat at prescribed times, to lessen grazing. At best I am taking in 1000 claories a day and the RNY surgery is supposed to cause my body to malabsorb anywhere from 20-40% of that. So I have gone from 2000-3500 calories a day to under 1000, and I am not losing????? How is this possible? Did I do this to myself for nothing????
Sorry to hijack your thread Meagan, but I had to rant too.
Hi all -
I'm in the same boat. Tomorrow is my 1 month surgiverssary, and I have lost 21 pounds. While I don't want to complain about losing 21 pounds, I somehow thought it would be more. But, I'm a lightweight like you.
My only advice would be that maybe you are overdoing it with the exercise, and your body doesn't want to lose fat because it thinks it needs it for the exercise and healing?
On the bright side, slower weight loss means our skin will not be as flabby, and we will look better when we're done.
Hope this helps! I feel your pain!
Heather
I think all this is so normal and we are expecting mericles to happen all at once. I am 4 weeks out and have now lost 29 but I can say most was this week alone. I lost a bunch pre surgery the right after I lost nothing for 2 1/2 weeks. This was depressing. Now I think my body figured out what I did and it's starting to kick in. I do exactly what my dr. requires and no more. Muscle weighs 3 X's more than fat. Too much is not good either. We don't want to be body builders, not right now anyway.
I get 50 min of cardio exercise daily, 64 oz of water daily, 60-80 grams protein daily and no carbs till I'm 75% of my entire weight loss. Atfer 2 months out, I can have small amts of veges and after 3 months out I can small amounts of fruits. It'll be all in time. He says the weight loss will slow down as I get closer to goal. As yu say a lighter weight from what I am now. Hope this helps some what but you got to do what your dr says.
Take care of you,
Debbie
Hi! I'm losing slowly as well so you are not alone. I don't get all stressed out though because i think it gives my chance to keep up so i don't look like a Shar Pei puppy. If you have 125 pounds to lose then losing 25 pounds is 20% of your total weight loss. Perhaps you need to think less and live more, you've been on the boards alot lately with challenges. You are young and beautiful and you are healthy so get out there and start living and let me tell you you're doing awesome. Be Well, ANDI
Count me in with the frustrations too!!! I have only lost 25 pounds in 5 1/2 weeks. I get the same typical response as you do Megan. I knew WLS wasn't magic but I guess I thought it would be a bit faster too. Well don't they say that you loss a majority of your weight the first 6 months????? Ummm yeah I'm month two WHAT's UP!
I keep thinking... OK so month two here we go....let the scale start MOVING! One happy note is that I squeezed myself into size 18 pants and shorts! Prior to the surgery I was wearing size 24 jeans and 22 pants. So yes I do feel a difference with the inches.
Funny thing too... I have felt an energy surge. Every Friday my husband and I would order pizza and other junk and watch a movie. Well last night I was working out at the YMCA until 9:30 p.m. It was a perfect time to go.
Good thing we have each other vent to. At least we all know we are not the only ones frustrated.
Let's hope the coming month is a bit faster!!!!! Unrealistic?? I hope not.
Hugs!
