Hi Diane, I am 4 1/2 weeks out and have lost 30lbs. Everyone loses differently but you sound like you are right on track. Keep doing what your Dr. says and you should be fine. I weighed 282 the day of surgery and 252 today. I hope this helps. Pat

Hi Diane, You're considered a "LIGHT WEIGHT" just like me. Isn't it nice for once in our lives to be considered a light weight?! Anyway, as cool as it is to be one - our weight comes off at a slower rate because we don't have as much ot lose. So, if you consider the % of body fat you've lost instead of the lbs - we're likely losing just as quickly. I'm right on with you. I weighed 272 day of surgery and I weigh 243 today. So I've lost 29lbs. I was really bummed but after talking to my surgeon and his team - they mark me way ahead of the game. HTH! Meg

Hi there Diane - My weight loss has been very slow too compared to others. I started out at 254, and on the day of surgery I weighed 233 (my surgeon requires weight loss before surgery). I'm now 214, so that's 17 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks. I too thought I'd be further along than this by now, but we are all different. Hope this helps, Heather

According to my Dr. you dont count the weight gain during the surgery.. They start with the amount u weighted when u came in that morning.. I was 252... on May 8th.. I am now 221... so that is 31 pounds.. For my records I count what i weighed just before surgery which was 264... I lost 12 pounds just before my surgery. I figure I worked to get those off as well... So the way the doc sees it and i see it are two different things... My way i have lost a total of 42 pounds.. wheeeee...

Hi Diane I had my surgery May 31st and lost 14 lbs the first week but only 1 lb the next! I also weighed 266 lbs before surgery, so I think you are doing pretty good. I agree with the other post - we have to look at it in % of weight loss if we want to compare with others. Keep up the good work, we'll soon see the difference on our bodies

Hi Diane, I too feel as if my weight is coming off so slowly...another one of those "lightweights" I guess. The day of the surgery (May 19th), I weighed 287. Now I weigh 274. So that is only a loss of 13 lbs. But when I add the 13 lbs I lost prior to surgery, then my total weight loss is 27. I think I might be on some early plateau or something because my weight has hovered between 274-277 for the past two weeks. Like you, I suppose I will have to be patient, but in the backl of my mind I wonder if I am the one person for whom this surgery will not work? (What an ego I have, lol!)
