Preop I thought wow no appetite will be great. Well now I see its NOT! I need to eat but anything and everything I look at just makes my stomach roll. My surgeon's office says "eat at each designated time, even if you have no appetite". I just can't. Pre-op I like the Atkins shakes now if I drink more than 1/2 I feel so sick. I've tried Unjury and Nectar and both make me gag. Did you experience this and if so how did you get through it????

Hey Mandy...of course I have ZERO appitite. It stinks but I am sure it won't be forever. I had my surgery on 31 May. I can't stand eating. I feel like crap afterwards. My tummy just doesn't like food in it. And I am still on liquids! UGH. Hang in there Mand we are in this together! Hugs! Shele KEEP ON DRINKING!!!!!

Hey Mandy - I think what you are going through is normal. I am NEVER hungry either. I try and eat 3 meals a day and usually end up feeling very sick, or throwing up. I think it is because the food looks disgusting which is part of the problem. So I revert back to jello, or pudding just so as I eat something. My tastes change every single day. One day I like something, the next I can't stand even to look at it. Unjury is ok if you get the unflavored stuff. Make a nice shake and put some yogurt and froozen strawberries to hide the flavor. I am drinking great, getting in my protien somedays, and eating basically nothing. At least I am getting some calories from the shakes. Just keep trying different things everyday. It will get better each day....or so that is what I am told... ha ha Josh

Feel blessed - the feeling dosen't last long. I remember at a couple of weeks post op feeling the same way. I'm only 5 weeks post op and wish I could have that feeling back already.

Mandy, I was just getting ready to post and say basically the same thing. My surgery was May 15th, and I am getting so discouraged and almost depressed that I can't eat anything. It's not that I WANT to. I have absolutely no appetite and would be happy to go all day without eating anything. But my surgeon released me to solid foods this past Tuesday (my one-month check-up), and I know I need to at least get in my 3 meals a day. But everything makes me sick to look at. I haven't dumped yet or anything, but if I take a bite or two of something, I can't eat anymore. Nothing tastes decent. This morning I couldn't even get in more than two little spoons of oatmeal. After that the oatmeal looked and smelled gross and I threw it away. I don't want to sabotage my program by making my body think I'm starving it, but I'm having so much trouble. I was on the light-weight message board the other day and saw a posting about these protein snacks you can order at www.kaysnaturals.com. They are supposed to be really good, low in carbs and sugars, and high in protein (for a snack). I'm going to order some today, along with some unflavored Unjury (I can't stand any of the other protein shakes anymore), and see if they can help me with getting in more protein during the day. I'm hoping this will pass for all of us soon. Hang in there - I know I'm trying because I know it will all be worth it!

My surgery was May 31 and I'm not doing very well in the eating and drinking department either. The only thing that tastes good is Healthy choice soups. I strain out eveything and eat the broth. I know I'm not getting enough protein, calories, water but I'm doing the best I can. I go to the nutritionist next week and will hopefully pass on to pureed foods. Any suggestions? Any recipes that you've heard of?
