This is kinda strange maybe....every morning when I wake up my pouch aches. All day long it doesn't....all night I am fine but when I wake up it is sore, I mean aches like a stomach ache. Also, I was wondering. For those of you that are crushing your pills and vitamins...I wake up and start them. After I am done I am full till about lunch time which means I not only miss my breakfast but my morning snack too. Trust me I don't mind as I have ZERO appitite but I am truely worried about the lack of protein. I did talk to my nurse about it who said that right now they are more worried about hydration for the first few weeks but I can't help but think of looking like some old haggard woman w/ a depletion of protein? I am dropping weight like nobody's business and that is exciting but at the same time I wonder if that is at the right pace too. Anyone else with me on this? Hugs! Shele

Me too. I think (in my not so medical opinion) that we spend all day giving i****er and liquids. I sort of drys out over nite. I soothe mine EVERY morning with something warm. Tea, broth, or I nuke a chocolate protein shake. If I start the day with something warm, my pouch is my friend the enitre day, If not it gets really nasty. I also have changed my meds sched. I spread them out throughout the day. I take a vit with breakfast and one with dinner. I have traded my morning coffee with a a protein shake heated. Sometimes I add a spoonfull of instant coffee for a kick. Try adding some of your meds with your meals and snaks. The ones I have to take on an empty stomach I take before I go to bed Sue

Everything that sue said, I also find that if i take my meds with warm liquid they dont seem to make me feel as full. It might be because the warm liquid is helping to melt it down a bit. Right now the only meds that I am on are my vits. those are chewable, one at breakfast and one with dinner. I also take a previcaid (sp) that is a melt away so when ever i feel like taking it. And then i do have a med that i have been taking before surgery, i snap them in half and take one piece every 5 mins with warm liquid. That is what has seemed to work the best for me. Hope that helps Stacy

Thanks ladies. I was talking with a friend of mine who is post op 5 years and she was saying that it was probably just lack of water too. *shrugs* Tomorrow will be a better day I hope. Hugs! Shele

I have sinus drainage in the mornings, & gag every time I brush my teeth. Could it be that?

Hi Shele. I found that in the mornings when I tried to eat, it hurt! Now I wait at least an hour or two after waking up to eat. I start my day with a cup of hot tea and take my pills (one by one) with it. I don't crush them, I swallow them whole and have been since the day after surgery, but that's just me. I'm also on BC pills (ok'd by the surgeon) and a lot of people are against that, so check with your doctor's office! Heather
