How much have you lost, May babies?
Had my Lap RNY on May 15th and as of this morning I am down 26 pounds
My only regret is that I never thought about measuring myself pre-op. I know for sure that I've lost quite a few inches. I think after my one-month post-op next Thursday I will begin measuring so it will give me something else to be fixated on besides the scale ... LOL!!
Best wishes to all of us and isn't it sooooooooo nice to be on the losing side for a change???
I had my surgery on 5-12-06. So far I have lost 57.8 lbs. Never thought I would be losing so much so fast......still have 123 to go but I am plugging along. Getting in my protein and water every day and my vitamins of course. Sick of the pureed stage and hope to be eating the soft stuff starting this weekend. Today has been 4 wks so yippee I get to start eating soft foods. Walking alittle bit more every day. Was very immoble before surgery so my walks are not that far but getting alittle longer everyday. I feel so great and looking forward to many many more wow moments to come.

I'm 5 1/2 weeks out, i had surgery May 1st Open RNY.
I have lost a total of 34lbs as of today.
Everyone loses weight differently, and the more you have to lose the fast you'll lose at first. for us that are "light-weights" (so we're called) we'll probly lose a lil' slower at first. BUT.... we DO lose!!! all be it a bit slower...
I'm very happy with my weight loss, and have only been to the scale once a week.
but since i had a different appt. today i had to get on the scale again! hahaha
i have my "1 month" appt. (a bit late) on monday the 12th.
I have been feeling great, and hope to return to work soon!! (I'm a nurse aide, so my job is very strenuous) i hope that i'll get the go ahead to return to work!!!
I see by everyone elses responses that EVERYONE is doing GREAT!!!!
Good luck to ya'll!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i hope that everyone has a GREAT weekend!!!!

Hi all -
Congratulations on all your weight losses, and better health! Its awesome!
I had a lap RNY and gallbladder removal on May 17, so I'm just over 3 weeks out. My weight loss has been slower than most of you - since surgery I have lost about 17 pounds. Before surgery I had lost 17 pounds. I'm trying hard not to compare my progress to the rest of you. I walk almost every day for 30 minutes, but I have been having stamina issues. I have also been following the rules to the letter. I've decided that I need to trust my body and that it will let go of the weight when it feels ready - but its hard sometimes!
My daily pattern seems to be that I lose 3 pounds, then gain 2, then lose 1, then lose 1, then maintain for 2 days, and then lose 3, and it starts all over again. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Again, congratulations everyone!
Heather

Darlene, I read your profile, and our stories are so similar! I, too, am a "lightweight" with about 100 lbs. to lose. I decided to do this now, instead of waiting another 5 or 10 years when I would inevitably have had 150-200 lbs. to lose!
I had open RNY on 5/30 and as of yesterday, 9 days post-op, I had lost 15 lbs. I'm really excited at how well we're all doing on this.
Darlene, I have a question: In your profile, you mentioned that your hubby was dead set against open vs. lap. What happened to change his mind? I had open because that's all my doc does, but probably would have opted for open anyway because I'm self pay due to an exclusion in my insurance policy.
Thanks for starting a great thread!

Hi Jami,
My husband happens to be married to a strong willed woman. It would have cost several thousand dollars more to have my surgery done lap & I just could not wait any longer to save the money. Besides, I felt very confident with my surgeons skill. I met a lady in my neighborhood who had surgery by the same doc & she showed me her scar. It was very narrow, pencil-line thin & only about 3 inches long. Not too bad compared to some open RNY scars I seen. Mine is the same, about 3 inches. I can wear a tankini with no visible scar. (Now the stretch marks from my 3 pregnancies are a different story) Thant's what tummy tucks are for, right?
It sounds crazy to be called a light-weight! Although I know there is a board for it. Considering my mother always weighed under 100 pounds all my life. It is a little weird though, I feel like I don't fit in with my really thin friends (they were always willing to give me diet advice pre-op while they ate whatever they wanted). And yet, some of my overweight friends were not as supportive of me because I was at the low end of qualifying for the surgery. All I have to say is that only I know the daily struggles that brought me to the decision to have this surgery. The mental anguish of failing at diets over and over again, only to gain back more. I can't wait to feel comfortable in my own skin.
I can say that I will never weigh over 200 ever again in my life...and this time I mean it! Woo hoo!
