Pain in my side? Anyone have this?

My doc told me that pain in the left incision is normal b/c that's where they cut through the muscle, and after about a week after surgery mine went away. But in the last week it's been back and it hurts really bad! It's right under my left ribcage and is so sore and painful. I've been a little concerned but I don't have other weird symptoms so I'm hoping it's just the muscle healing and pulling? Anyone?

Hi Amie, I don't know how far out you are from surgery, mine was on the 9th and I still have pain in my left side. It got better for a while but the last week it has seemed worse. I see the Dr. week after next and he did tell me at my last appt. that it was normal to be sore. Mine is at my rib cage just under my left breast. I thought that if it wasn't better by Monday that I would call the office and talk to the NP. Hope this helps. Pat

Hi Amie - I've had that pain from time to time, and I notice that it particularly occurs after I eat too much or have gas pain. But I think you should definitely call your surgeon just in case, especially since it was better and then came back. Take care, Heather

My surgeon told me this is perfectly normal and it's also normal for it to disappear and then reappear. By the way, it also can last until week 6!!! Good luck. Heather

The pain in my left side is disappearing and reappearing, too. For the last two days, I've had to take tylenol to get some relief. It was a surprise to me, because I was starting to feel really, really good and then... bam! Diane

I'm so glad you posted this. I have the same pain.....I feel great otherwise but when I move wrong OUCH!!!! I am concerned that this pain will get in the way of my job. I start back on the 27th but have a physical job. Hummm, 6 weeks and still pain? Wow, muscles take a long time to heal don't they. The only way my stomach feels relaxed enough is flat on my back on laying on my right side. I wish I could rub it and make it all better!! LOL
