SO FRUSTRATED WITH THE DAMN SCALE!
My 4 week appointment is this afternoon and I'm so frustrated that I'm not losng like everyone else. WTF?! I'm working out at Curves, walking/jogging and riding my bike. Most nights TWO of these activities. I'm tracking everything I eat on fitday.com and the reports are showing that I'm burning 5-6x the amount of calories I'm taking in. What the hell is wrong with me?
I drink water. I drink my protien shakes. I get a MINIMUM of 50-60g protien a day. And yet the scale is barely moving........ this has been going on for almost two weeks now. The first two weeks were awesome and now nothing.
I can gulp water and sure as hell can eat more then two bites that ya'll are talking about. UGH!
Hey Megan,
Have you tried upping your protien?
are you losing inches?
i can't gulp my water, but it's bigger than a little sip... i still can't eat all that much, but it is more than a couple bites. (can usually get down 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food depending on what it is)
i found that Koolaide doesn't bother me, so i jus****er it down a bit more, and i drink about 12 oz a day...
i'm trying to keep up on my protien, but i'm not good about keeping track of how much i'm eating of it.. i usually try to make my little portion last 1/2 hour, so i don't eat too fast, i leave my plate in the other room... (it's kinda funny watching me eat)
but i fill up fast..... lol
i don't seem to feel hungry at all, which is such a nice feeling for a change!!
Keepin' my fingers crossed for you!!!!

oh, I soo understand. it is just so hearwrenching to go through all this, dieting, surgery, and I have only lost 6 pounds in 6 days since the surgery, I was absolutley positive that I would have lost closer to 10-15 lbs by now.
LOL
perhaps it is all the calories in your protein shakes? perhaps it is all the calories in your more than two bites and gulping water. I have been on a lean meat/leafy green vegetables for 90 days now, and I have continued to loose, so if I were to exersize, and I were getting the same results that you are, I would re-evaluate the types of food you are intaking.
LOL
I also would highly recommend that you put the scale in the trunk of the car!
Hey Meg... I know it's hard and really frustrating but try to hang in there! I'm going through the same problem, I actully called the doctors office because I'm sick of not losing weight to ask for advice. He said that our bodies are probably retaining sodium, so I would just keep a watch on your salt intake, also something I didnt know watch if you are drinking Gatorade my doctor told me to go off of this for a few weeks to see if that makes a difference! I guess just knowing your not the only one going through this might make it a little easier! Hang in there, it will start coming off again.
Girlfriend, I hear you and feel your pain!!It is hard to be patient when we went through so much to try to lose weight in the past, then so much more to decide to have the surgery, and then again more hurdles (for some of us) to get approved for the surgery and get a surgical date. Some of us feel as if we have been waiting our entire lives to lose weight. We want our new selves revealed, dammit! But... we should all take a deep breath and go slowly. We did not put on our extra weight in a few days, it'll take a while to come off.
I applaud you for being so aggressive and proactive with your change in lifestyle . As for your specific issue, I would suggest two things: 1. there is a plateau for some people 3-5 weeks out, perhaps you are on one? Irriatating I know, but there you have it. 2. Most important I think. With all your exercise, did you consider you were gaining muscle mass? I bet you are, and good for you!!! Muscle has more mass than fat (more dense because of low water content) and will eventually burn all those calories. First though your body has to adjust to a surgery, increased physical activity (were you excerising this much pre-op?) and a restricted amount of food. You were used to larger amounts and so was your body. Now that it gets about 1/4 the amount, initially your body might be treating this as a traumatic starvation situation. That means "hold on to the fat as much as possible" and burn lean muscle for energy. Eventually your body will learn that this situation is more permanent than that and the weight will fall off.
I too think you should lock up your scale. Don't weigh yourself religiously, that thing has been a heartbreaker pre-op; I'm sure it's evil ways have not changed, lol! Instead, try measuring yourself once a week. I bet you have lost several inches by now.
Again I applaud your courage and empathize with your frustration. Three months from now, we should try to revisit this thread and see how much things have changed. Kisses to you , -tj
Hi Megan,
I too was in the same place you are. The first 2 1/2 weeks I lost 25lb and then for 10-11 day the scales did not move. This is normal- from what I am told that your body is catching up and reacting to all of the surgery and changes. The weight did start dropping off again, so hang in there!!!!
Pat
I also had a monthly apt today and lost 3 lbs. Better than nothing but this is for 17 days. I do believe the scale will start moving again and we must remember that we didn't gain all this overnight and we can't expect our bodies to do more than god himself. We are going through major changes right now and it will all catch up with you. I know so. Good uck with the exercise, you're doing great and put that scale away for a while. It'll do you good.
Take care of you,
Debbie
Since evryone has it covered, I can only agree. You are doing your part, stalls are normal, you're body has to play catch up.
You are on the right track, stay on it.
As far as the SCALE, I walked around Wal~Mart 1 whole hour picking it up and putting it back(well I had my sister do it), I finally decided to get it. Its been in the house 5 days and I havent stepped on it yet. I had my hubby put it in the basement bathroom. Out of sight out of mind!!!!!!!!
Also you could very well be losing inches.
Keep Going as you have
