I am now 7 days post-op and feeling pretty good. There is just one HUGE problem, I don't think I am getting in ANY protein. I can not stand the protein shake I have, it is from Kaiser and it is NuriRecipes, or now known as Optifast HP. It is horrible and makes me gag. Does anyone know of a Protein shake or other protein product that taste good. I really need to go out today to get one. Please help!!

My fav is ProPerfomance protien powder from GNC. I mix it with lactaid No Fat Milk. 1 scoop powder is 20 grms and 8 oz lactaid is 9 for 29 grms. I love the Chocolate Caramel and I add a 1/2 teasp instant coffee and nuke for a few to warm it up. Great first thing in the morning. I also use the Banana Cream mix with lactaid 1/4 banana and 3 frozen strawberrys. Yummy. I had a H E double Hockey Sticks of a time with protien for the first 2 weeks until I started using the lactaid. Mixing with water didnt help with the NASTY smell of dirty feet that protien powders have. But With the lactaid I dont even notice it and it tastes good. I also use the Strawberry or vanilla and chocolate flavors. Sometimes I add Torani flavored SF syrups. I get them at Smart and Final. Also at GNC is an unflavored powder called ANY WHEY, a scoop in your mashed taters or yogurt or broth is another way to sneek it in.

Hi Karlie - I like Unjury protein powder that I found out about from Weight Loss for Dummies. I have unflavored powder which I add to soups and puddings to boost the protein (20g per scoop, and its tasteless). I also have Chocolate and Vanilla powder which I use to make shakes. You can buy it online at unjury.com. If you get it, I have found some recipies for different shakes (strawberry banana, mochachino, mint, etc). Good luck! Heather

I like Nectar Fuzzy Navel protein. I mix it with 12-16 oz of water (at first I wasn't putting enough water in & I hated the sweetness) now it is the only protein I care for. No aftertaste. I bought mine in a sample from bariatriceating.com but I think they carry it at the vitamin shoppe if you have one near you. Darlene

Good morning. My suggestion would be to go to Bariatriceating.com and order yourself some samples of protein powders to find a few you'd like. They offer single scoop servings for less than $2 a pack. That's how I found the 3 I like the best. Matrix 5.0 I absolutely love because it mixes so well and there's no aftertaste. I use the plain chocolate, this way I can add fresh strawberries or bananas or even some coffee to make a mocchachino (delicious). I also love the Elite chocolate mint, because when I'm craving a little ice cream, I blend this in my Magic Bullet with 5-6 ice cubes and it comes out like a milk shake! Also, I have the Protein Delight strawberry white chocolate... it comes with little pieces of strawberries in it! All of the above I mix with Skim Plus milk for added protein. Hope this helps some! I tried a tablespoon of protien shake mix yesterday and it had splenda in it and I nearly dumped, that was way too sweet. my dr said no no protien shakes, no spenda, just get the protien from the meat and take 4 vitamins a day
