Anyone on post-op clear liquid diet?
I am on a two week post-op clear liquid diet. I feel water logged, like I'm going to float away. Not that I'm really hungry, but I NEEED some variety!!!!!! I've done chicken brother, SF jello SF ice pops, water water water and even coffee (don't like tea). Any suggestions? I'm so bored with this diet!!!! Any ideas or suggestions or anyone else in my boat?
When I was on the phase my doctor told me that I could also have sugar free pudding, yogurt, and cream soups you just have to make sure you strain the soups! Also be careful on what kind of yogurt you buy, some are really high on carbs/sugar. I eat Yoplay lite (sorry about the spelling lol). Let me know if this helps
Unfortunately for me it is ONLY clear liquids. I don't like beef broth, I found chicken bullion cubes with herbs and spices that is pretty good, but it is just the plain boring part of eating the same thing day after day. I've done the SF jello (no pudding for me yet), SF ice pops you name it. I'm tired of sweets!!!! I want something with flavor. I think I'm more frustrated than anything. But I have also been having dizzy spells and I'm not sure what that's al about. I had them two other times in my life and both were when I'd lost alot of weight and wasn't eating enough......
Hi honey,
I know where you are coming from. I did clear liquids for 2 weeks, then 2 weeks of full liquids, & now I am doing 2 weeks of purees/soft foods.
I could not do the plain broth, and to this day I don't want to look at jello or popsicles.
I bought the Lipton cup of soup chicken noodle & strained it with a very fine strainer & I did Campbell's chicken noodle soup & strained it & drank the broth. I had to buy an insulated cup, because by the time I was able to sip what i wanted, the broth would get cold. The next stage, full liquids, I strained Campbell's vegetarian vegetable soup & enjoyed it.
Don't sweat the lack of protein right now as long as your surgeon doesn't suggest it. I know this stage is very hard, but remember--this is the worst part. It is all downhill from here. Once you can start adding variety, your body & mind will be so much happier.
Keep your chin up, I'm pulling for you!

My suggestion is....make your own broths! Boil up some chicken, veggies and whatnot and get to cookin. Add your spices as you wish and feast on your new flavor! I am on full liquids now and trust me it is NOT much better. I too am sick of sweet foods! ECK! There is a broth that I really like it is full of flavor. It is called Swansons Vegitarian Vegetable Broth. Give it a try. When I am eating chicken again I am definately going to cook mine in that insted of regular chicken broth! I hope this gives you a bit of a change for your palate! Hang in there this is all to heal your lil pouch before you get into the real digginz!
Hugs!
