Does anyones drain tube hurt? Mine has this sharp pain sometimes and the rest of the time it is a dull aching almost like a cramp or something. Just curious. --Angela

Angela: I had no trouble at all with my JP drain until last night. I had been to the bathroom and on leaving the tube caught on the doorknob! (*&(*&%$^@!!!!! It hurt!!! I did not pull the drain out and it continues to work but has been sore all day. Moving around, breating deep, coughing(!!!) all make the drain area hurt. I've been taking it easy today. Go for my first post-op visit Tuesday. I think I can hold out till then but may call the office tomorrow just to make sure. John

Oh John I bet that really hurt. Did it pull any of the stiching out? If you didn't then you should be ok. I get mine out Tuesday and I can't wait. Mine hurts all the time and when I cough or take a deep breath or even up walking it is just this unbelievable sharp pain shoots through my side. --Angela

Angela! Mine was sore when it was in a bit. Kinda felt it moving and a little pinchy too. I was so happy to get it out which was a really STRANGE feeling to say the least. A little uncomfortablt but I would never call it pain. John...My GOSH you got your****ched up on the doorknob!? Oh maaaan I would have been cussin like a sailor! Mine was removed before discharge of the hospital and now is healing nicely. I did get mine caught on my hand though cause I waa pinning it to my gowns in the hosp. that hurt but mine was stitched onto my skin so it stayed put...don't get me wrong it still hurt. Hugs! I had surgery 3 weeks ago, and where the draining tube was still hurts! I think that's just normal because of how long it actually was, its just trying to heal. But if it keeps bothering you I would call you doctor just to make sure!

Hi All!! Mine hurt really bad too, i couldn't stand up straight, bend, hurt to cough ect ect ect. at my 1 week appt. they removed the stitch, and it felt a little better! (it had just been pulling too much and that was causing some of the pain) at my 2 week, when they were taking it out, it's suppose to just slide out....... WELL...... i had to be one of the "ODD" people (according to the nurse) cuz mine got stuck, and didn't wanna come out! she tried a few times to pull it out and it wasn't budging, then she brought in another nurse, and she pulled and pulled and finally POP, it came out as she stumbled back............ Believe me, i haven't cried like that for a very long time, i even lost my breath! BUT, the pain was gone just about as fast as i was feeling it. and that night i was able to sleep the whole night without having that pain in my gut from moving wrong...... and i was able to stand up straight a few days later! and now i'm able to stretch sooo big...... lol...... and WOW does that feel sooo wonderful!!!! every once in awhile i get a little tinge of pain, but i think it's just my muscles healing. The scab from the g-tube area just finally fell off, and hopefully they'll "release" me to do alot more things now... especially SWIMMING!!! hehehehe Good luck to ya!! It'll be out soon!! ~Alison

The JP tube caused me NO pain and it came out before I left the hospital. Now my GTUBE is another story. It is constantly sore, dull aching, cramplike pain you described. Mine comes out Thursday and I'm so ready. None of my inscisions have bothered me at all. My only pain comes from my G Tube. *tapping fingers until Thursday*
