3 weeks out, bloated and full feeling all the time?

Hi everyone! I'm 3 weeks out from lap RNY. I was on a liquid diet for the first 2 weeks and did just fine. I moved onto the pureed phase one week ago and I've been "struggling" ever since! Everytime I eat something, it feels heavy in my stomach. I have no desire to eat anything! And it's really hard to get my water in when I feel this way! Plus, when I drink my water, I feel really bloated. Is anyone else going through this? It seems like everyone else that is posting says they are doing just great! I feel like I'm doing fine but I don't feel "great" like everyone says they are! Deanna

I think we're kindred spirits... all of a sudden this week, it feels like i can't eat as much. I guess that's a good thing. but i'm still adjusting to getting enough fluids in when I can't just chug all the time. and then this afternoon, I want to take a nap, but that means none of that time I'll be sippingsippingsipping... hang in there. it'll get better. are you seeing dr hong next week? i'll check in with you after I see him tomorrow.

Hi Deanna, I had surgery the same day as you did. What foods are you trying to get down? I had trouble at first, so I cut back on the amt of food. Really on a tiny amt. By the time I get protein and fluids in, there doesn't seem to be time for anything else. I also feel like I am doing ok but not wonderful like some of the posts are. I am still really tired and my endurance just isn't coming back like I thought it would. (and yes I am getting in my protein) I guess we are the 3 that don't feel GREAT. But each day at a time and it is getting a little better. Have you had a bowel movement regularly yet? These are just some of the things that my surgeon has ask me. Hope you feel better soon. Pat

I had a couple days of feeling not so great when I started up on food again. After I spoke with my nurse, she said that getting your protein all in for the first month is pretty much unreasonable. She encouraged me to eat the tiniest amounts and really focus on the water and how I'm feeling. I feel less bloated when I really try to spread tha****er out. I make it take all day to get it in. From the minute I get up to the minute I go to sleep I'm followed by the dreaded water bottle. But that's what it takes for me to get it in. Overall, I do feel great. The little bumps are all part of the learning what my pouch likes (like cottage cheese). Leia

Tropicana lite make a tropical punch juice with 5 calories per serving....I take 4 oz of that and 2 oz of skim milk and add my scoop of protein to that and blend it with two ice cubes in the blender....it tastes pretty good actually. I get the vanilla whey protein and it really is rather tasty made this way. It doesnt make alot so it is easier to get it all down. Kel
