My surgery was 5-12-06 and so far I have lost 45.8 lbs. About to graduate to the soft food stage and so far no complications whatsoever. I am drinking my water and getting in my protein. Had some difficulty yesterday ....not feeling the least bit hungry and only had one meal and missed a protein drink. I think the heat and humidity is messing with me. At least I was drinking lots though. Kel

Guess I'm the slowest of y'all. I had my surgery on 5/18 and I'm only down 10. The surgery immediately kick started my period so I'm hoping I still have fluid retention, otherwise, man. I hoped for more, I confess.

Kate, I think it's common for the surgery to kick-start your period because it did mine to! The day I came home from the hospital I got my period - 2 full weeks early!

Yes, it sure does. For one thing, all the pre op weight loss contributes to it. For another, when we lose weight rapidly right after surgery, the fat burned off releases estrogen flooding through our system, and that in turn kickstarts that period. I was hoping for early menopause, but this WLS ruined ALL my plans. Drat!

Sounds fantastic, but every surgeon seems to prescribe a different set of protocols. Mine, for instance, says no seeds or fruit with seeds (strawberries, raspberries) because those little suckers can irritate the new pouch and stomach line. I've already strayed on a few things, but I'll put this on the list for post-Stage III shopping. By the way, do you like almonds? They have more nutrition and actually have protein. Gotta get it in every way we can. Good luck and good job!

I'm 16 days post op now (I think) and I had lost 30 but I was dehydrated so when I got hooked up to an IV I gained back 4 so I guess I'm between 26 and 30. I eat FF cottage cheese, Low fat string cheese, and I had shrimp today with a garlic herb sauce. water is a tad hard to get in but I'm trying and I switch off between protien shake and eating food otherwise I just want to gag at the site of it.
