The Truth Seriously...

I have a very low tolerance to pain. I was more afraid of the pain than the surgery and told my doctor and the nurses at the hospital exactly that. It was not nearly as bad as I feared. I was on morphine for the first 2 days and then on Lortab elixer and that controlled it very well. I decided I did not need any more narcotics and have not had a dose since I left the hospital. I didn' need any pain medication for the 1st two days home but did have some tolerable pain. More soreness from swelling than anything. I decided to take some liquid Motrin my doctor said I could have too and that cleared that right up. I only took one dose each day for 2 days and haven't needed anything since. Tomorrow will be my 1st follow-up visit with my doctor and just 10 days post-op - my RNY was May 8th. I feel like I can now do just about anything pain free and plan to ask my doctor when I can start working out on my BowFlex. I want to so bad but obviously don't want to if he doesn't feel I'm ready yet. I feel so good right now I'm going to go take a ride on my motorcycle which I haven't done since before surgery. You'll get through just fine like me I'm sure.

Well first, I just want to thank everyone for their honesty and for replying to such a silly question. I feel so much better now. I am not scared about the pain anymore. I will be able to handle it. I was just worried that the narcs would not help. But after hearing all of you, I know now that they will. And of course the walking is always good. Thanks again everyone. I hope all of you are doing well with no complications. --Angela

The PCA pump definitely WILL work! On my first walk I made 10 rounds and the pain was not that bad really, my PCA pump was on my IV pole so if I needed more it was there to use. I thought I was expected to do 10 laps and later found out most patients only do 2 or 3 but since I was able to do that I made that my minimum goal to heal quicker.

You wanted the truth. Girl I was in pain but I had a open and just as the others those first hours after they awoke me I felt like I had my guts ripped out I begged for Ice the whole day and noooooooo one would give me anything It was horrible. Until my mom got there and wiped my mouth with ice chips. But once you get the pain meds your cool. I heard Lap is not as bad as a Open. Question since you had a C-section your doctor is still doing it Lap your lucky. From what I have heard after a c-section it is mandatory for a open. I didnt care open or not I was getting it done.
