Did my surgery work?
It might be that you're just a slow loser. One never knows. You could possibly still be carrying a lot of extra water weight from all the IV fluids plus the water you're drinking too. Give it a few more weeks to see if you get a pattern.
Be proud of that 9 pounds! How could you have lost 9 pounds in one week before surgery? You'll see more results soon.
Heather,
Your doing great!!! at my 1 week post-op, i had no weight gain or loss from my appointment with the doc 5 days prior to surgery!!
ALOT has to do with all the IV fluids and swelling, you just had major surgery!!
2 weeks out, i weighed in at my primary clinic and i'm down 7lbs in 1 week.
I'm excited about my Monday weigh in's now!!!
I agree, everyone loses differently!! and it too depends on how long your on the liquid diets..... i was liquid for a total of 9 days!! and then was put to pureeds/softs.
i think that might have some to do with it also.
i'm walking everyday, i'm up to a mile now, and it feels great!!!
and keep sippin' on yer' water!!
Chin up!! It's great to be alive and losing weight and inches!!!

It's not fair for me to compare because they say males tend to lose quicker due to higher muscle mass. I worked out heavily on my Bowflex the 6 weeks before surgery to help with this. I weighed the same when I admitted to the hospital on May 8th as when I discharged on May 10th - 393 lbs. I lost a lot the first few days which I'm sure was getting rid of the extra IV fluids them pumped in me. I've been averaging about 3 or 4 pounds every other day since. I'm at 370 lbs as of this morning so that makes it 23 lbs lost since the hospital.
I've read that you really need to get in enough protein to avoid losing muscle mass and the plataue so that's why I am worried that I am not getting in enough. I'm lucky if I can get in 30 or 40 gms a day.
Water is very important in the fat loss too and I'm not getting nearly enough of that yet either. I've got to do better somehow but just don't want much of anything, especially liquid, right now.
