I'm doing pretty well. Pain has been minimal, fluids and protein are going in fairly easy, although my protein intake isn't quite what it should be. I've been drinking 1 Zero Carb Isopure a day, and while I love them, I can't afford to buy more so I can have 2 of those a day til I'm off clear liquids. I'm still easily tired, and am down to one nap a day. I'll be glad when I can be on a regular sleep schedule again.

I had my surgery May 8th and a I have had some good and bad days. I am able to get most of my fluids in : I am using that Tropicana sugar free 2-3 cans a day plus water and sugar free jello. My proteins : i have had low carb yogurt and shrimp, and tunafish; Sometime ago I was feeling hungry!!! but that only lasted about a day; I have not been hungry since; I am still having pain; today which is about 6 days post op is the first day I have not had to take Loratab!!! It still hurts to get up and down but that is feeling better; I was able to get a 30 minute walk with my daughter yesterday and that felt good. As for naps, still having to take those cause I feel tired; I do take my protein shake in the morning because that gives me energy! I haven't been good about my calcium yet; I hope you continue to do well

Your doctor is letting you have shrimp and tuna fish already?? I jealous! I'm still on a full liquid diet. I'm having a real hard time getting in enough water and protein still. I gag on these protein shakes now but loved them before surgery. I can't drink much water at all and it seems to make something in there gurgle. I have my first post-op appt tomorrow and am hoping my doctor will let me start on soft foods. This full liquid is getting real old..

Hi Ginger, I have overall done very well. I have trouble getting in all of my protein because everything taste terrible post-op. I have been unable to drink any isopure drinks post-op because they are sooooo sweet to my taste. They were my favorite pre-op. I am getting some smart forme protein and unjury in diluted crystal light w/lemon crystals. It has been really hard. But just take each day at a time. The water has been going ok also. I also tire very easily and have to rest, but am not down to 1 nap a day. I have no idea when I will be able to go back to work because it is very busy. I am a nurse in an outpatient infusion center. I have been sleeping much better at night. I think things are on the right track. If anyone has ideas for protein, PLEASE let me know. Pat

My surgery was May 8 and I am doing pretty good. I am still on a full liquid diet for the rest of this week and that kinda sucks, water intake getting better but the protein is hard I try to get down at least half of what I need. I don't take any naps and have kept myself busy. No real hunger yet and I have no pain except a tiny bit in my right incision. I itch like crazy from it healing though!I have lost 17 lbs. so far and feel great. I am glad to hear everyone is doing good. Bobbi

I'm experiencing the exact same as you Pat except I'm not getting in water as easily. Just no desire so it's hard to force it in. I haven't been fatigued though but have taken naps twice since I got home - today was the second time. I was reading lists of foods that can be taken on the liquid phase and it listed custard so I thought I'd give that a try. I got a small chocolate Sunday from Shakes and man was it good for a change! I was worried I might dump but haven't experienced that at all yet luckily. I've pushed things a little to see if I would by eating yogurt - not my favorite but beats the shakes and Isopure right now. The apple sauce has 23 gm of sugar - a lot, but no problems at all. Oh, after eating about 1/3 of the Chocolate Sunday I was too full to eat anymore. After eating that I became very tired and that was my first nap. I don't know what the difference is between custard and ice cream but it tastes the same to me at Shakes. I wish I could find something with protein that I can tolerate.

Hi Rick, That seems like a lot of sugar in the applesauce, I can only have unsweetened. I have found that a protein powder called unjury-unflavored and put it in about 6oz of crystal light lemonade and 2-3 oz of water and add lemon crystals, and I have been able to get all of my protein in the last 2 days. I also have found that I like crystal light decaf unsweetened tea. I am now eating yougart, applesauce, pudding and strained soups and cream soups. It isn't as bad as it was. I hope that when I see my Dr. next week he will advance me to puree foods. My Dr. is very careful because he wants the stoma and intestinal ananstomosis to be well healed before introducing much food. I hope all is going well with you and each day gets better. Pat

That is a lot of sugar but I was a little off. I just pulled the box to confirm and it has 22gm versus the 23gm I said - still a lot. I bought Mott's brand pre-filled cups before surgery. I bought the No-Sugar Added version and accidentally bought the original version at the same time. I tried the no sugar added one as we bought it in the past and I didn't care for it much but felt I would have to settle for it anyway after surgery. When I tried the applesauce I tried the regular one mainly as a test to see if I could tolerate it. I haven't dumped on anything yet luckily. I compared the boxes, the No Sugar Added one has quite a bit too at 11gm. For the taste difference I much prefer the extra 11gms.
