Topic: Really Discouraged
Hi all, I have to say that I have been very discouraged pretty much lately. I look at my body and I say I'm happy that I had this surgery. However, I feel bad 99% of the time. Either I have pains from my fibromyalgia or something I ate doesn't agree with me or I've got su*****redibly painful gas (not like the funny rumbly tummy gas, but seriously PAINFUL in my chest gas) or I'm constipated or my costrochondritis is painful or my esophogeal spasms, or I have no appetite or I have an unreal appetite or my pouch is hurting or my pinched nerve in my back is hurting which makes my abdomen hurt or something! I have pain in my upper abdomen a good portion of the time from either gas or my pinched nerve or the esophogeal spasms. I've had an endoscopy done and everything looked great. I've had an EKG done. Every test that I've had (blood and otherwise) have all come back great, so I know that everything is good inside, but I feel like total s#-t 95-99% of the time. I am honestly starting to regret having this surgery. No, I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure, but I still am totally unhealthy! Or at least feel unhealthy. I feel almost worse than I did pre-op. How f-d up is that? Maybe I'm just venting, but I really needed to do it and get this out. On the positive side, I got my drains out from my TT today and feel much better in that respect. The nurse said that everything is healing fantastically - is one of the best she's seen. She said that my complete recovery will look amazing. Michelle

Hey there Sue. I've never been a calorie counter. I do try to concentrate more on proteins....I do love carbs!! My weight fluctuates anywhere from 131-135(I'm 5'2")...never anymore and never any less. I take it I'm making the right choices. I do allow myself treats and splurges and I try to balance it out the next day. I'm doing what I guess a "normal" person does which is fluctuate a few pounds and tries to moderate what they consume. I was thinking of dropping a few pounds but I got to thinking that I just need to firm up and get some exercise in my day. ana 221/134/130's at goal

Joan, I send you a hug too. I'm sorry you are going through this also. I am struggling in other areas and know that there is a lot of pain in everyone's life. I do feel that if you come here though, as with me, there is hope and if you keep coming here it shows that you have not given up and that you feel that you can do something. You did something in May of 2005... perhaps long before that, because you researched it for lord only knows how long before you actually had the surgery, right? i know that it sometimes feels easy to give up, i know that lately i have wanted to give up too. but maybe make little changes in the way you are doing something... and then ask other people that have not given up what they are doing... and something will seem easier. support groups, they are here for support. life isnt easy... bottom line. when things are too easy... then they usually get boring... anyway... water, protein, exercise..... do those three things first. look at old pictures at your heaviest.... remember how you felt then.... do you really want to go back there? can you live with yourself back there? if you feel like you can.... pick up the phone call your surgeon's offic.e... hugs. j.

Hi Shannon, My name is Joan and I am in the exact same boat as you. Never had any dumping, can eat anything (and do), Lost 100lbs. and have gained back 20. If nothing else please know you are not alone. I tried to e-mail you privately, but I'm computer illiterate and don't know if it worked so I am replying here too. I am trying real hard not to hate myself as that is so counterproductive. But it is hard not to after spending all that time, energy and money, only to sabotage myself. Sooooo........... I am trying to take little teeny tiny baby steps to get back into some kind of routine. For instance: instead of eating a candy bar or muffin, just eat half the candy bar or muffin. Set your mind to that, just take half and drown the other half in water. (literally, run it under water so you can't eat the other half.) Sounds kindof stupid but it works. And after a while you realize that it get expensive too. I don't know....... I'm not happy for your situation but I am happy to know that someone else is having similar problems. You can always w-mail me too if you want, just DON'T GIVE UP and I won't either Hope to talk to you soon Joan

Hi Tracy, I'm not happy for you but I'm glad that it's not just me...that really doesn't sound right! What size are you wearing? I'm wearing a size 14...a lot different from the 26/28 I was wearing! Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow. Do you have plastics scheduled? I'm not even going to think about it until next fall...I can't do anything to compromise my golf season!!!! Have a great week end. You sound just like me, Sue. I also workout over an hour six days per week, follow WW Core and still cannot get down to 140. Grrrr...... I am grateful for what I have lost but would just like to get down to least below 150 before plastics and ultimately 135 after plastics. I am only 5'2" and small boned, so I honestly think 135 is reasonable. Anyway, at my last visit with my surgeon, I complained about it and he told me that as much as I don't want to admit it, my weight may be as low as it is going to get. I am SOOOO NOT ready to accept that and will continue working out like a fiend and following Core until "something" happens - and who knows what that something" is! How much weight can we liposuction off at a time? I just may resort to that because this is getting real old. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I am in the same exact boat as you and that you're not alone! I have my WW weigh in tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get some good news. We will see.... Hugs, Tracy 303/160/135
