Michelle, I am so sorry to hear you are still in pain. It must be sooooo frustrating not having an answer for this pain that can be so incapacitating. It sounds like they have ruled out all the immediately serious causes, and now you are left just waiting for your body to relax and heal itself. As Kathy said, try to keep your protein intake up so you can heal. Debra M.

I'm still not feeling great and they still don't know what's wrong with me. I've had x-rays, CT scans, tons of lab work and no one seems to know what's wrong. I'm feeling a little better and am thinking that this may all have been caused by some muscle spasms. My back has been in a total knot since Monday afternoon and I have one spot on my back that is extremely tender to the touch. I can't walk more than a hundred feet or so and then I end up in a huge knot. It's really bizarre. I'm probably going to go back to the doctor tomorrow and get this spot checked. Michelle

I think he did both the homocysteine and the MMA - he said something about them, anyway... Not sure, to be honest... Don't know if it was just the screwed up eating today from the fasting, the weather, or what, but I'm feeling pretty.... low, today, I guess. Just don't care much right now.

Neurological symptoms associated with B12 can happen within low normal range. I know there are 2 other blood tests that can tell how well you are utilizing the B12. One is homocysteine and one is MMA. You can read about 'em on www.labtestsonline.org - if you'd like. Did your doc also test the other Bs? Good luck, Becky! Hope your doctor finds some answers for you. Hugs, Kathy

I've been pretty much stable since February, maybe a couple of pounds down. I'm not too bent out of shape about it, although I have a few vanity pounds I'd still like to kick. I'm SOOOOO close... My eating was a mess today because of having to fast for the labs... Late B (10am) - protein bar L (11:30) - 1/2 a turkey, ham and cheese sandwhich S - 2 pieces of cheese S - pb crackers S - granola bar D - no idea Vitamins - on track Water - over 100oz so far Exercise - ya think that's why I've still got those few pounds?

Topic: Update, Question
This is an update to my post about related/unrelated symptoms. I saw my PCP today and talked to him about my various symptoms and have done some more research. He ordered a B12 screen as well as a fasting blood sugar and an insulin resistance test... There's potentially two things going on here: FSAD, foot neuropathy (numbness, drop foot), intermittent numbness in my hands, etc. could all be associated with a B12 deficiency. FSAD, neuropathy and hypoglycemia (could be reactive, could be general, not sure yet, still experimenting) and screwed up menstrual cycle could be PCOS, insulin resistance or Type II Diabetes.... Before WLS, I was showing signs of elevated sugars and have struggled since surgery, over the past few months, with bouts of LOW blood sugar.... However, the symptoms, etc. fit, it's just a matter of getting the lab results... Has anyone developed PCOS, diabetes, etc. AFTER WLS?
