Topic: RE: Tuesday: What are you eating?
Good Morning Miss Tracy, wishing you well on your "jump-start"
I haven't eaten yet except for coffee, this is the { projected plan }
However with my hyper-rebellious nature ...after I write what I plan...I'm known to deviate. I'll try to do it tho.
B. yogurt and 1 c strawberries
S. cheese stick and apple
L. Chicken Divan (layered chicken and cr. soup sauce over broccoli and topped w/mozz. chz.) 1/3 c. rice w/ fresh tomatoes and peppers, cuke and veggie salad
S. cheese stick and strawberries
D. ham and cheese and turkey roll up w/lettuce leaves, yogurt
S. 1/2 PB & J on hi fib/wh. wht br.
* hubby's shedule has changed where we eat 'dinner' at around 3p.m.
which creates a huge space for grazing behavior
* So I have begun to adjust my meal schedule by having dinner 3p.m. at 'lunch'
and waiting till maybe 7p.m. to eat a 'lunch meal'.
We'll see how it goes.
* Adding this info for accountability
Love you guys
.... Off to the races
Mary

Topic: RE: What's up
Hey Michelle, Sad for you that the pain remains and the doc's can't yet figure it out.
Although I have a high respect for the doc's... we do have a sense of what is going on sometimes IF we get 'very quiet' and listen with an { inner sort of ear } to our bodies.
Your recent diagnosis of Fibromyalgia may be contributing to your woes. If your magnesium is low , even just a little low it can cause muscle spasms anywhere in the body and muscle spasms can trigger the neighbor muscles to spasm and on and on it can go.
I have the fibro and sometimes I get these huge 'rolling' muscle spasms all through my back and abdomen. You can even feel them rippling through, even with the hand resting on the abdomen. It hurts like heck and feels like a giant snake is loose somewhere inside.
Also the B vitamins are hugely important to helping calm the pain receptors. Keeping your calcium up and potassium up helps too.
I always hate it when trouble comes...but sometimes trouble is a teacher. Waiting to instruct us in a path that will bring better health and some welcome relief.
Praying for you gal,
Mary
P.S. I buy the *solaray brand of ( Malic Acid w/Magnesium ) from Vit. shoppe ( about $12. for 90 capsules) which helps my muscles calm down
Ingredients: per 3 capsule dose
Malic acid 1.2 g
Magnesium as (Magnesium Oxide) 400 mg.
B 6 ( as Pyridoxine HCI ) 18 mg.
Thyiamine (as Thiamine Monocitrate ) ( B-1 ) 12 mg.
Grifflnia (griffonia simplicifolia) (bean extract) 50 mg.
plus herb blend :
chamomile
hops
english lavender
passion flower
valerian root
St. John's Wort 250 mg.

Topic: RE: Wake-Up Call
Well it's Jenny ! Welcome back. Alot of us are struggling with the snacking and I too have found that a problem.
With me the first 50 lbs came off fairly simply then a huge stall and shift and it became all hard work, just like before wls for me. Which required me to return to Weigh****chers weekly and also to Overeaters Anonymous as often as I can get there. I read the "OA for Today" meditation book every morning for inspiration. ( which I have considered posting from daily, cuz it's so good )
We have all heard the saying " The doctor only operated on your stomach not your HEAD" and how true it is. I find the same affection I had for food prior to wls is present and doesn't take much to get fanned to a huge flame. Particularly with carbs.
I have developed a problem with lo-blood sugar that seems to be triggered by the highly processed carbs and because of these rather scary spells of sweating and being shakey and a weird visual darkness thing I have started keeping a record of when it happens and what I have been eating. It seems much better controlled by eating lots more fresh fruit and veggies and trying to up the protein and yep, even make myself get in at least 1 protein shake daily. I have to say that tho I hate the 'lo-blood sugar spaz attacks' it has a silver lining to this dark cloud, which is that it is forcing me to work harder to eliminate the simple carbs. Not completely successfully but much better. I guess the 'problem' is creating a discipline I couldn't seem to enforce on my own.
Jenny, I wonder if you would be willing to post some of the ' back on track' literature your doctors program issues, please.
I'm guessing alot of us would benefit a great deal. And it may create alot of lively conversation. Good to hear from you,
Mary

Wanted to update yesterday's food for the sake of accuracy...

Everything else was the same and NO FOOD AFTER DINNER!!!

Jenny, you're right that it is a daily battle of the mind - hourly struggle even. Anyway, I am right there beside you fighting off the compulsions to graze. WE CAN DO IT!! Hugs, Tracy
P.S. Good luck on the 3-day.

Don't have any answers, Becky, but you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Tracy

I don't know which is worse for you, the pain or the not knowing what is causing it. Anyway, I am praying for you! Hugs, Tracy
Topic: RE: Pouch spasms?
If I eat something that is too big a piece or too dry or not well chewed enough... I immediately feel pain right under my breastbone dead center.
I was hopsitalized with chest pains (mostly on the left side) a couple of months ago. Through testing and process of elimination... I pretty much guess they were esophagael spasms triggered by swallowing some of my vitamins. They triggered the discomfort which would last a while and would get retriggered even by food. I adjusted the vitamins... switching pills to capsules, cut pills into quarters and take my capsules with hot tea and the problem seems to have gone away.
