Topic: Not feeling well
I just need to vent a little. I took my youngest off to college last Wednesday, and since then I have felt terrible, both emotionally and physically. I don't think it's a coincidence that my physical state is tied to how depressed I have been. My daughter and I were very close, well, as close as an eight teen year old will let you be. My oldest daughter moved to NYC in July and I have been very stressed about that, too. So, my nest and my heart are empty right now. My stomach started hurting on the drive back from Ohio, which I blamed on the SF frozen yogurt I ate on the trip. I am lactose intolerant, and took Lact-Aid before I ate it, but I don't think it did any good.
On Thursday, I didn't feel like eating, or doing much of anything else, and by Friday, diarrhea set in. I took the first sick day since I had my WLS surgery. Since then, I have had diarrhea numerous times a day. I think it is starting to ease up a little. It's also weird that my water tastes bad to me when I drink it, and I have had to resort to Crystal Light. Usually I don't have any trouble getting in 4-5 bottles of water a day.
My last worry is my tummy tuck scheduled on the 21st of September. I will admit I am scared to death over this. I have read so many posts on the PS forum and Michigan board about the pain associated with this, and I am soooo much more scared of it than I ever was over the gastric bypass.
So, I just needed to get this off my chest (considering how low and saggy it is these days, it doesn't take much). I know time will help with the pain I am feeling over the empty nest. For those of you who haven't experienced this yet, I can tell you it can be excruciating. I feel I am grieving a great loss. I am perversely hoping the pain of the tummy tuck will take my mind off my home problems. My husband and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary three days before the TT. We were married for 5 1/2 years before our first daughter came along, but it is hard to have such a quiet house after 24 1/2 years with kids in it.
Sorry to dump (verbally) on you all, but you guys are such great listeners.

Topic: What do you think about creating a LOTTERY for WLS ????
OK, this may sound a little far fetched but...
At the recent mtg. of our wls support group Dr. Harrington ( wls, PS and general surgeon ) was our guest speaker. After his talk he took questions:
I asked him what he thought about having a WLS LOTTERY so those who do not have insurance coverage might have a chance to get it.
Dr. Harrington said he would be willing to consider it seriously, if we could organize it, to get back with him.
Sooooo are any of you gifted in organizational abilities?????
This could be such a great way to give back and help out those who are still in the pain and misery of suffering in their Morbid Obesity and Super Morbid Obesity.
I would be very willing to work together with anyone who can organize, so this dream could be fulfilled!
* Let's take a walk down memory lane...just 15 months ago
try 24 months ago ...It was August 2004 and HOT. You were trying to do your shopping and sweat was pouring off of you like a fountain. Everything in your body ached especially your knees and feet. After only taking a few steps you were huffing and puffing and out of breath, scanning around for a chair to sit down in ( IF it would hold you ! ). After getting your groceries you went out into the parking lot and the heat melted you into puddles and by the time you got your things in the car you were totally and completley exhausted. Wiped out and done for the day...but the day wasn't over neither was the humiliation as you struggled to haul your groceries into the house as neighbors watched you in your sweat drenched clothes...wondering ' What's wrong with HER, is she having a heart attack or something???" as you lumbered into your home to collapse.
Or do you remember shopping for clothes??? When the only clothes that fit were an embarassingly huge size ( you would never tell even your best friend the size ! ). Nothing was flattering really and one of the most important points in your choice was if it would adequately cover your huge belly or butt or arms or legs? Lost to you was dressing for color and style and fashion and looking into the mirror pleased with your reflection. ( or even looking into a mirror above the neck unless absolutely necessary )
What if we could offer that hope to others... who like us, so badly needed this surgery?
Some dreams can come true.
What do you think????
Let's open the floor to comments and discussion,
Maybe the wonderful Mayers could begin something really BIG !
...THAT COULD CHANGE LIVES the way we have had our lives changed!
Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
Hugs,
Mary

Topic: RE: If you could be a ....
I think I'd like to be a fairy princess who had superpowers and I would
bestow the gift of - "PAID in FULL WLS"
To all who have no insurance
Then 18 months later I'd like to swoop down to drop off an:
"ALL COSTS PAID IN FULL PLASTIC SURGERY PACKAGE"
( covering whatever is needed )
Mary
P.S.
FYI When Dr. Harrington (wls surgeon Md. Va. & D.C. ) spoke at our wls support grp. mid Aug.
I asked him what he thought about setting up a LOTTERY where folks could buy a ticket - Lets say for $5.00 each and whoever wins gets their wls free , and another lottery for PS )
He said "If you set it up and organize it, I wouldn't be opposed to considering it, let me know .")
So calling all organizers - we may just have a workable way to assist those who still suffer in the misery and pain of their MO and SMO.
( I lack organizational skills but would love to network with interested parties )
Wouldn't this be a great way to give back????
What do you think?????

* We recently saw a movie you might enjoy w/Jenna Elfman called "Touched" ( filmed in 2005 )
It was great , Jenna plays a nurse who daily cares for a guy who is in a coma for 2 yrs. and suddenly wakes up and as she continues to care for him they fall in love and...( can't give away the goods )
tho some guys would call it a 'chick flick', guys w/heart like my hubby loved it too.So get out your hanky and get ready for a surprise twist. Tho it's not her usual comedy , rather serious - but she does fabulous!
