I have gained 10 lb.s  back.  I do dump and I am so thankful that I do because I am a cookie monster and love sweets.  Just remember that you do have the greatest tool to get back on track.  Go back to the protein shakes, eat lean dense protein first and you will be back on track before you know it.  Good luck weight loss sister.

I feel you Carol, I had surgery back in 2005 and lost 159 lbs.  I am 5'11 Lowest weight was 188 I have gained 54 lbs back... I exercise every other day (including bike riding), and I still eat small proportionate meals.  It is hard and family don't understand how I feel.  I have pain when swallowing and can only consume small meals... then I don't finish what is on my plate... but the pounds have crept back on.  Many have told me that I "look" good... but I FEEL miserable.  I have to carry the additional weight, and now old problems are rearing their ugly heads.... high blood pressure... severe knee/joint pain (sometimes I think I need a cane!)..........:(

So here I am....looking for help. I have battled compulsive over eating all of my life and having the surgery gave me back the power over my life. Even after surgery my compulsive over eating was still an issue but I always managed it with exercise was able to maintain my 120 pound loss. My weight fluctuated between a 10 pound margin but I was comfortable with that and felt in control. In March of 2011 my upper left leg began to hurt and I dealt with it till Aug and finally went to the doctor. I was diagnosed with hip bursitis. I have had 3 rounds of cortizone injections, physical therapy, and deep tissue massages to no avail. The pain is a lot better since under going the deep tissue massages but am still unable to perform any kind of exercise (lower body). My eating has spiraled out of control and over the past year I have gained 40 pounds. I am terrified of never being able to exercise and continue to gain. I have had to go on anti depressants to combat depression over it all. I have already had to buy bigger clothes for the first time since 05 and am almost on the verge of having to buy even bigger ones. I appreciate any advise....

Congratulations on your 2 beautiful children! My sister had a lapband after gastric bypass because she gained. All insurance coverage is different but some of her's was covered. She had that a year ago and is liking the ability to get a fill and increase restriction.

Best of luck.

Topic: Checking in - it's been a long time!
Hi fellow Maysters...it's been too long since I have checked in. I just re-read my profile and it's something I recommend. We must never forget where we came from! I have been at a weight plateau for the last 5 years, however I continue to exercise regularly and try to eat correctly.

I'm doing well with a few complications. I have recently been diagnosed with iron deficeint anemia and a stomach ulcer. I really haven't noticed many symptoms except being tired. This is why it's important to have thorough follow-up care. I also have reactive hypoglycemia - if I eat too many carbs or sugar, my blood sugar plunges to as low as 38! I am definitely not diabetic anymore which my primary care doctor is thrilled about. My latest A-1C was 5.1; he said to me that it's like I was never diabetic! I make sure I always have glucose tablets with me and a protein bar. I know what it feel like so I take action immediately.

I did have a tummy tuck a year ago which was a blessing being able to get rid of all that extra skin and fat! Would love to have a breast reduction to aleviate shoulder, neck and back pain but not sure when I will be able to do that. My daughter thinks I'm addicted to surgery!

I hope everyone is doing well and continue to be healthy!

Hi All! I don't know if anyone remembers me but a lot has happened in the last 6 years! I had my first baby Jan 17, 2009.... A son, Owen. it took us a while to conceive and that was the start of my weight troubles. I was holding steady around 145 for 3+ years and then gained 15 lbs before I got pregnant. Ok 160 not so bad. On the day I gave birth I weighed 210....yikes.... 35 lb fell off immediately and I was around 175.... ok manageable. Well within a few months I gained up to 200 lbs, where I stayed until I got pregnant with my second child, a daughter, Julia was born Feb 17, 2011. I only gained about 20 lbs during this pregnancy because I lost my appetite.... that was awesome. I was 10 lbs under pre-pregnancy weight the day I gave birth. Well soon after the appetite came back with a vengeance and within the last 3 months I am back up to 205 .... I am so frustrated and feel hungry all the time.

I did have an UGI before I got pregnant with my DD and it did show a dilated pouch and stoma. I guess I am considering a revision... has anyone done it? Did insurance cover? Where you able tog et back on track. I guess I am just looking for support and to say hello to old friends. Hope some of you are still around.

What is the 5 day pouch test?  I had my RNY on 5/9/05 and was super stable for a long time.  I got a divorce and gained a little, but quickly lost it.  This year and late last year my weight began creeping up.  Of course I know why, but that isnt the issue.  It's getting back to my comfort zone that's my major goal!!  I have a connective tissue disease - Ehlers-Danlos, which makes exercising hard as my joints dislocate.
