My sleep apnea has improved since surgery. I also have a Cpap machine. The setting has been lowered 4 points so far since surgery (from a 16 to a 12). I am hoping to be rid of it soon as well. Huggs, Ruth

I had the lap band placed, so my weight loss has been a little slower than your average bypass patient. While my sleep apnea has not completely diminished, it has greatly improved. I still use a CPAP machine and have gone from a 14 setting, to a 9 setting. Generally, I find that I've needed to move my setting every 25lbs lost or so. With that thinking, I should be off it completely by the time I get to my goal. Mercy 428/408/296/180

Hi Joyce, I can't speak from personal experience as I am still pre-op but I have seen a number of posts where people have reported that their sleep apnea has diminished or completely resolved with weight loss. Lori

I actually sleep all night now without my C-pap machine. I'm more rested, etc. So I do think it helps reduce it.
