Hi DeeBee,
Welcome to the board!! You're doing an awesome job. I haven't had anyone be really negative about my surgery.. But I do have a friend that has told all our mutual friends that I had the surgery...I don't know if she just told them for something to talk about..or if she was wanting them to know why I'm losing weight...She's also telling them that she's on a diet and is has also been losing weight...so maybe she is trying to let them know she's doing it the (hard) way..lol I don't care..she didn't weigh as much as I did and she didn't have the medical problems I had. So...don't worry about what others say or think... You're on a road to freedom and they'll all be jealous!!

Welcome, surgery day sister! Glad you decided to join us outright!!
I had some negative responses when I decided to do it and parted ways with two 'friends' who had their respective issues. I know in my heart that it was the right decision and my enthusiam and success shines thru. I am also selective on who I tell about this. And if anyone even hints that it is the easy way out I go on about the testing, diet requiremnets, exercise, life long commitment....basically overwhelm them with info so its clear that its lots of work and dedication.
Look forward to seeing you post more and hearing of your successes.
Warmest,.
Tiffany
I was a power lifter back in my 20's/30's, and so I had a lot of muscle to get rid of...in addition to the fat....and now that I've lost 166 of my 200 lbs I want to...I avoid any type of exercise that 'bulks' up the muscles. So I do bicycling, walking, hiking, some jogging, kayakking. Usually 20 miles a day on the wheels, 5 a day on the water, 5 a day on the walking. In the gym I use the resistance machines for movement and limberness and extension, but with just enough weight to make the burn, but not enough to add any bulk. Lots of reps.
Lots of leg lifts and roman chair sit up, ab work, and lower back strengthining conditioning.
So far so good on my part. According to the fitness guru at the gym, I test out to be a very fit 36 year old...except that I'm 55 so I feel pretty good about that! My big test is to get as much of a range between resting and max heart rate. My resting heart rate is usually 49-57 and I can usually crank it up to a sustainable 170-185 bpm...that's where I feel the best.
Congrats on the new "clothing" purchase!
Hope it gets put to good use very soon... like TONIGHT.
Question for ya, Michelle... do you think that if your doctor's appointment was today or even next week you would have eaten that the pizza and other things so freely? Was this a reward for the doctor being so happy about your progress? I'm totally asking this out of my own personal experience from years ago. After my weekly WW weigh-ins... I would go get a Taco Bell taco salad (healthy, my arse) and head home. It was like after the weigh-in I was free to indulge afterall I had the rest of the week before I had to weigh-in again. Plus it was a "food" type reward which is weird when I was rewarding myself for doing well with my eating. Go figure.
I officially record my weigh-ins weekly and then on my month surgiversaries. I weight myself on Fridays - my surgery was on a Friday so that set that into play. Anyway, I have in the past tended to allow myself more carbs and things on Saturday or so and then back to my normal low-carb life on Monday morning with the Friday weigh-in pending.
Just some of my thoughts...
Kathy
