Reality check
Okay, so today I decided I would really keep track of what I ate. I've entered everything into fitday.com and here it is almost 5:00 p.m. and I've had breakfast, a shake (jus****er, coffee, and powder - was NASTY), lunch, and dinner. Nighttime hasn't even come yet and I've realized a few things about my eating - as today was pretty typical of my daily eating (except I usually don't have a shake until later in the day).
I realized that I eat a LOOOOOOOOOOOT of fat. I eat a lot of cheese because it's a good source of protein and to be honest, I don't know that I really wanted to realize how much fat and calories are in what I've been eating. Here's my totals so far today:
Calories: 1585
Fat: 93 (YOWZA!!!!!!)
Carbs: 74
Protein: 117
According to the little pie chart at the top, 53% of my calories today are from fat. No wonder the flipping scale has budged only 3 pounds in 3 months.
Just so you get an idea of what I had:
B: 2 eggs, 2 slices 2% American cheese, 1-1/2 strips center cut bacon (lower in fat)
S: 3-4 oz decaf coffee, 2 scoops protein powder, 2 packets Splenda
L: 3/4 medium apple, 2 tbsp pb (yep, I measured), package of Green Giant cauliflower with cheese sauce (only 150 calories for the whole thing!)
S: about 10 low fat Pringles - they're still loaded with calories and fat (8 grams/fat per 16 chips)
D: 1/2 of a Panini that I made with Potato bread with butter, 2 slices Muenster, 2 slices Provolone, 2 slices Havarti, and 3 slices turkey deli meat (okay, pick your chin up off the keyboard) - like I said I ate 1/2. Thankfully I was inputting my sandwich while I was eating it otherwise I would have eaten more of it - as I am not full, but I am going to find something else to fill my pouch rather than finishing up the other 1/2 of this sandwich - just 1/2 of it is over 500 calories. If I don't allow myself to get full, I will be snacking all evening again and with already over 1500 almost 1600 calories, I don't need to be snacking all night. Oh, yeah, and I had 3 baby carrots with about 1 tbsp light ranch.
So, from here on out, I am definitely going to be much more careful with my food choices. I needed this reality check today.
