Mental Talks

Ya know, Kathy's post below got me to really thinking about some of the mental talks that I have with myself and I thought I'd put them out here so that all of you can see what a nutjob I am. I feel guilty most of the time if I eat strictly a fruit or a vegetable (like an apple, banana, carrots, peppers, etc.) because they don't have protein in them. I feel like I should eat NOTHING that doesn't have at least some protein in it. I don't like that my protein shake has about 300 calories in it because I don't want to 'spend' my calories on them, but I'm okay with 'spending' 150 calories on one piece of sf candy or 2 sf cookies. I'm also okay with 'spending' 300 calories (or more) on chips or such. It's also okay that I can get only 28 grams of protein in 4 string cheese that is also 280 calories. What kind of mental talks do you have with yourself that you'd like to share? Michelle

Often times I find myself saying, "tommorow will be better". I also self talk about a lot of situations, I remember when we first started out, I had to remember to eat, now all i do is think about food, I guess its in a good way, I evaluate the caloric and protein content of everything that I eat,

Aliya, Is this sort of the "all or nothing" thing (which I have been guilty of in so many aspects of my life)? If you eat something that isn't in your best interest, do you think the whole day is blown and then continue off track and tell yourself that you'll start over tomorrow? Kathy

ok, Kathy you can get out my brain now, of course thats what I think! Tommorow will alwys be better, but a very wise lady in my support group has said that the next MINUTE will be better!

I think so very many of us have spent a lifetime with that all-or-nothing perfectionism. Hard thought pattern to break. Think it goes hand-in-hand with the "I'll start on Monday" thing. I do like the next MINUTE idea. Would be far more healthier and saner.
