Hello All Maysters,
Working on last minute tax deductions and it looks like our protein shakes and vitamins and supplements as well as exercise and club memberships MAY be covered as deductions if ordered by a doctor and required due to a specific condition ( obesity)
Gleaning any advice or tips you have discovered that helped with preparing your tax stuff for this past year of pre-op and post-op medical costs and expenses.
Anybody out there with some experience or advice???
TIME IS RUNNING OUT ! HELP PLEASE
Thanks and have a great day.
Mary
I know that protein and vitamins can be reimbursed with pre-tax dollars under an employment flexible spending account if you have a written requirement signed by your physician but I'm not sure about tax deductible. Also remember that medical expenses that are actually deductible are those that exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. So if you adjusted gross income is say $50,000 then you can deduct medical expenses on Schedule A that are over $3,750. Ouch!
Hope this helps!
Have a great day too, Kathy
