What Not To Underwear

I watched this show today... a spinoff version of What Not to Wear on TLC. It talked about the importance of getting bras and underwear that fit and that flattered your body and your clothing (no panty lines!). It involved 3 friends... one tall gal that wore sports type clothing/bras all the time, one full-figured gal and one gal that had a slim top and wider hips. The show ended up being pretty powerful as these women came to an acceptance of their bodies as they explored how to make the most of what they had and how to accentuate the positive and downplay the flaws. I was pretty moved by it. The one gal had a lumpectomy and chemo and radiation and because of the surgery she felt that her breasts were different sizes so she started wearing camisoles with build in support rather than bras. She was amazed at how she felt in a well fitted bra. They also got them some clothing and lingerie too. Very fun. I think it is important for all of us to embrace the bodies that we have now and for those that are continuing on in their weight loss journey the bodies that are yet to come down the road. All the bumps, rolls, skin, curves, newly found waists, etc should be embraced. Our bodies are so very far from what they were. They probably aren't perfect or close to perfect but perfectionism is highly overrated and surely doesn't yield happiness. I know that I'm working hard to see, recognize, accept, embrace and yes love the body that I have now. It is so much healthier and stronger than it was a year ago. It moves so much easier. It can look great in clothing, it can shockingly look "small" and it can look sexy. These things are hard for the mind to catch up with but when it does it is overwhelming yet truly and utterly amazing. Kathy

Kathy, I really feel good fitting and flattering underwear is super important. I wear sports bras to the gym...they certainly don't flatter, but, they soak up the sweat, but, when I get home and shower I put on great bras and panties that really flatter. I still have very large breasts, even with the weight loss. I've gone from a 48 H to a 42 DDD, but, they are still quite a weight to pack around. Particularly now that I've lost so much weight on my back...they feel heavier! Due to my radiation and 4 surgeries on one breast, that breast that had cancer is noticeably smaller than the other, but, the good bras mask it...not the sports bras, but, again, I'm not at the gym to look good, I'm there to work...hell, I still wear a sweat band...no one else wears one at my gym...I hate sweat in my eyes!
