So, What do you think?

Okay, so remember last week or so I posted about skipping lunch and having some issues, supposedly to low blood sugar? Well, I'm kind of in a quandry. It keeps happening, every afternoon, pretty much, and has been for a couple of weeks now. Some days are worse, some are better. My symptoms: Extreme fatigue Dizzy/fuzzy brain Balance - my balance has been a little funky lately, but not like I'm falling over or anything Ringing ears - this is the part that bugs me the most Lack of focus/concentration Here's what I'm thinking it MIGHT be: Tired - I've been getting up at 4am every morning for 2 weeks, sometimes, 3:45. I work a full day and then often have class, don't typically get to bed until about 9pm, sometimes a little earlier, more often, a little later Dehydrated - I've been REALLY pushing water hard, and trying to keep better track of it. Also have been cutting down on coffee. But my skin seems extra dry lately and I noticed last night when I was getting my hair cut that I was unusually thirsty. Will keep working on this one. Vitamin Deficiency - This is what worries me the most and I've been researching various deficiencies that might be causing it. There's so many things that could account for the various symptoms... Blood Sugar - This is still my number 1 thought although I've been working hard to try and eat every few hours. The only thing is, I still get some level of these symptoms even on the days I eat very well and often. Combo - could it just be all or some of the above? I know, I know, I need to call my doc... I will, I promise. Do you think I should start with my PCP or call my surgeon, first? I see her in about 6 weeks and will be having blood work shortly to prepare for that visit. Don't get me wrong, I can function okay, but there's just so many things that it *could* be that it's starting to make me a little concerned.

I would definitely see your PCP and get some blood work done now rather than go through another 6 weeks of this. Definitely could be many of the things you listed. Blood work can indicate dehydration, deficiencies and maybe even the sugar issue. Be sure they test the vitamin levels: B1, B6, B12, etc. Doctors get glucometers for free. The companies want you to buy the test strips that's where they make money - I'd get one - in fact, I encourage everyone who has had this surgery to have one. Good to have in case you feel funny - first thing, check! Then you can identify/eliminate blood sugar issues. Functioning "okay" isn't all that. You need to feel good and normal, ya know? Kathy

The nurse at work has a glucometer but it's broken... I've been waiting for her to get it fixed so I can run down and have it checked a couple of times... It's nice to have someone on site for just such an occassion... I think I'll call my surgeon today and ask for the blood work orders now and go see my PCP tomorrow or the next day and see what's going on...

Might be a touch of dehydration as well. My mother has severe dehydration issues and her symptoms are dizziness, weakness, lack of concentration and fainting spells (in fact, she passed out at a restaurant yesterday). So, keep pushing the water!

Same thing here Becky, my doc said a temporary drop in blood pressure. Told me to lie down when it happens, yeah, like in the parking lot when I'm out during the day!?! I've checked my BP and my glucose a bunch of times when this happens and both are normal. Blood work all normal too. I am really thinking after reading the posts here that it is dehydration. With all my pouch issues it is impossible for me to get in enough fluids but I am going to do it... Barb... imagining a portable IV pole attached to my side to up my fluid intake!

Ya know, this solicited all kinds of responses from me. Cursing. Screaming. Passing out... Um, yeah... no. It did cross my mind for about 2 seconds but my tubes are tied so it's HIGHLY unlikely, although it's only been about 6 months, so I suppose ANYTHING is possible... But I don't think that's it. I'll let you know in a week or so....
