Question????
Do I HAVE to count my protein drinks in my weigh****chers points???? I liek to eat, and although i can't eat nearly as much as I used to, it breaks my heart to give up 9 points for protein drinks, especailly since they are such a large part of my life! I just put a call into my Nut, so we'll see how it goes. I know it seems like I'm looking to cheat or being greedy. But I do one skim milk shake and 1 nectar shake a day. And they are hardly as filling as they used to be... any thoughts?
I would definitely count the skim milk from the one shake towards your points.
I know many that aren't doing WW but who are post-ops taht do not count the calories from their protein shakes towards their total calories for the day. I cannot quote the rationale behind it either but they consider the protein as their source of basic fuel for the body.
Not sure what my feeling is on that.

Oh, I consider my shakes as basic fuel... I'm just not sure that when I get to the point of counting calories (which I don't do now) whether the calories from the protein should be counted. You would think calories are calories. But the folks that I'm talking about are some long-term post-ops and some have learned things "the hard way" by having deficiencies so I take what many have to say very seriously.
For me, my protein level was 7.5 at my consult and up to 8.1 for my pre-op bloodwork up as a result of my pre-op low-carb, high protein diet. Three months post-op my protein was down to 7.5. Then at six months post-op it was down to 7.2. Looked like a downward trend to me. 7.2 is still normal but why wait for something to go down into the abnormal range before acting on it, right? So I added a 3rd protein shake a day. Now, at 9 months post-op my protein was back up to 7.5. I like it. Still normal but not heading south and more like it was pre-op.
I love my protein drinks! Don't know that I'd say that I "crave" them but I certainly look forward to them. Scary? Strange? Weird? LOL!
Everyone has to do what works for them and what works for their doctor/nuts.
Kathy
Yep you sure do....
I only do one shake a day. I do one scoop of unjury choc which is 2 points and 1c of FF carb countdown milk which is 1 point, so 3 points total for a shake. I know what you mean about them not being as filling as use to. I had breakfast then an hour later exercise and immediately after the exercise Id have my shake since the shake after a workout keeps your metabolism up longer. An hour after the shake Id start drinking water until lunch time. Good luck on this!!
