After 2 days of back to the gym after my big cold, I'm taking this weekend off...I feel so much better, but, I'm left with the cough from hell. Oh well. What did you do to move your body this weekend? Lori

Hey, Lori! Take good care of that cold/cough. Nasty stuff has been going around. We've had many friends/coworkers down with varietys of the creeping crud from flu to cold and coughs. Icky. Yesterday Rich and I walked around the outlet mall. It is a fair amount of walking. Rich is doing better with walking. He has some leg issues including old knee stuff, lymphedema, and other venal issues. I think he may have some shin splints too. I'm getting him to do more than the exercise bike at the gym - like using the treadmill. I told him to cross train but use the treadmill so that he gets his body into good walking shape since it is more of an everyday physical skill. I think he is *hearing* me now. Sometimes he is a bit stubborn. LOL! Today we went to the gym to have a cardio workout. I don't have enough time at the gym during the week to put in a big ol' cardio workout. I mostly do weights with anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes of cardio as a warm-up. So, we did 20 minutes treadmill, 20 minutes bicycle. Then I did 20 minutes on the Cybex. Rich tried that but his knee didn't like it so he went and did 10 more minutes on the treadmill. (Good boy!) Worked up a good sweat. Ahhhhhhhh. Feeling good. Have a great Sunday. Kathy

Kathy, I can relate to Rich's venal problems. I have them too. The weight loss has really improved my lymphadema stuff. But, boy do my legs look a fright with the newly exposed varicose veins and hanging skin...I know I'm healthier than I've been in years...just don't see me with my clothes off! Keep up the walking! Gave myself the day off on Saturday but made up for it on Sunday: 60 minute step-aerobics class upper body toning (including abs)

Thanks, Lori. I am very happy with where I am cardio-wise - I can get into my target heart range and go, go, go. But, as far as the strength training goes I'm nowhere near as fit as you and Seven, so mad props to you! I guess we all have our strength's and weaknesses...literally!
