I was reading my profile this morning and found a copy of a poll that was posted on here back in June - 1 month post-op for us. I had cut and pasted my answers to my profile. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to run the same questions again, 9 months post-op. I just tweaked them a bit to make them more applicable. Here we go! ______________________________________ 1. How far post-op are you? 9 months, 1 week, 1 day 2. What surgery did you have? Lap RNY 3. State/country you live in? Michigan 4. Age? 37 5. What was your most recent WOW moment since surgery? I went to the jewelers last week to have my wedding ring resized (I had been wearing it on my middle finger for a month and it was about to slide off). I've gone from a size 9 to a 7!!!!! 6. What is the latest goal you had set for yourself that you have met? One of my goals was that I wanted to cross my legs like a lady. I've been able to do that since before Christmas! 7. What is your favorite (or most tolerable) protein supplement? None 8. (New Question) What is your "trigger" food? At the moment, it is either potato chips or chocolate. I've been good about controlling myself with the chips - I've replaced them with Soy Crisps in the house and at work. The chocolate thing I'm trying to get control of. I bought some sugar-free this last time so at least my piece a day is now sugar-free. 9. What food just isn't working for you? Oatmeal 10. Are you exercising? If so, what are you doing and how much? No and I need to!!!!! My office is on the 2nd floor of my building, and I take the stairs several times a day. I'm thankful for that because I need that movement. 11. What is your next goal(s)? To reach the century club and to get into a size 16 (I'm close to a size 16 pant!). 12. How are people reacting to the changes in you? My family can't believe I still want to lose more weight - they think I'm ok where I'm at. People who haven't seen me in a long time are pretty amazed. I ran into an old coworker last week that I hadn't seen in at least 10 years. She must have said at least 7 times, "You look so different!" 13. Do you have any regrets about the surgery? No! 14. (New Question) Are you having any "issues" as a result of your surgery/weightloss? Yes! My issue is my sagging skin! Ick! I also can feel my butt-bone now so if I sit too long and go to get up, I get a pain in my tailbone. Diane 308/217/180 (37 lbs. from goal)

1. How far post-op are you? 9 and a half months or so 2. What surgery did you have? Lap RNY 3. State/country you live in? Virginia 4. Age? 45 5. What was your most recent WOW moment since surgery? Tieing my all time low weight as an adult of 167. Now waiting to get under that weight to my lowest weight as an adult. 6. What is the latest goal you had set for yourself that you have met? Same as #5. I don't like to set "number" goals but that was one. 7. What is your favorite (or most tolerable) protein supplement? I really like: Nectar Lemon Tea, Nectar Fuzzy Navel mixed with Crystal Light Orange Sunrise, IDS Cinnamon Vanilla mixed with chilled coffee with a splash of half and half and sweet and low. 8. (New Question) What is your "trigger" food? Probably white carbs. I avoid them as best I can but allow them once in a while. Not sure if SF chocolates are triggers. I need to limit those. 9. What food just isn't working for you? Nothing though I assume sugar but haven't pushed that issue at all. 10. Are you exercising? Yes, I go to the gym at least 5 times a week and have been since mid-January so just about 2 months. I'm proud of that. 11. What is your next goal(s)? Again, I hate to set number goals but at this point - that's what I have left as far as goals go. I would love to set a goal of running a 5K and other things like that but my back isn't allowing for that so I'm restricted in some of the physical goals that I really wanted to set for myself. So, my next goal is to be under 167. Then reach 161 (normal BMI). Then reach 160 - the goal I set before surgery a year ago! 12. How are people reacting to the changes in you? Everyone has been very positive. I have not lost friends over this and I haven't gotten any negative comments. I haven't gotten any "don't lose anymore" statements but I have gotten "you look great the way you are" comments. I think there is a twinge of jealousy from a coworker or two who I am now smaller than but I don't flaunt it and say "Hey look I'm in a size 8/10". If they ask, I answer. 13. Do you have any regrets about the surgery? No. 14. (New Question) Are you having any "issues" as a result of your surgery/weightloss? Fuzzy hair and dry skin galore (I am well hydrated and I lotion up after every shower). I do have sagging skin like most do but it isn't causing any issues - no rashes or anything - it is more of an aesthetics matter. I'd be smaller if I didn't have the extra around my belly.

You know...mine is coming in grayer. There was plenty of grays before but man oh man... Highlighting ain't gonna cut it anymore. BTW, the fuzziness has improved alot in the last month. Not sure why but it is. Much better. I'll take it!

It's hardcore excersize every night for a month. 11. What is your next goal(s)? To be in a size 16! I do have one pair, but not totally comfortable with them yet. I want to be comfortable in a a 16! 12. How are people reacting to the changes in you? Right now everyone is being very positive. 13. Do you have any regrets about the surgery? No! 14. (New Question) Are you having any "issues" as a result of your surgery/weightloss? Yes! My issue is my sagging skin! Ick! 1. How far post-op are you? 9 months, 3 weeks 2. What surgery did you have? open rny micro pouch 3. State/country you live in? Michigan 4. Age? 36 years but I'm feeling like a 25 year old now!! 5. What was your most recent WOW moment since surgery? I went to a Mary Kay event and saw people I haven't seen in three years - NO ONE recognized me!!!! I had so much fun with it. I ended up having to show them my before picture in order for them to believe it was me! But the wow part was all of the love and support and praise my MK friends gave me that night!!!! MK women are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!! 6. What is the latest goal you had set for yourself that you have met? In January I was in the hospital and in order to get off TPN I had to get in 100 grams of protein in per DAY!! That was my goal. I've done it every single day since and I actually average closer to 130 grams per day. 7. What is your favorite (or most tolerable) protein supplement? Designer Whey Vanilla - mixed into a cup of sf hot chocolate!! I drink 3 of them per day. Don't know what I'll switch to when warm weather hits and I don't want a hot drink anymore. 8. (New Question) What is your "trigger" food? Last week it was Cheetos!! My sister brought some over last weekend and it was HORRIBLE! They're just soooo darn good!!! But they're out of the house now, and I only bought good stuff with the groceries this week, so I'm having a much easier time now. 9. What food just isn't working for you? I don't really have any that aren't working for me. But I don't venture outside of my safe zone very often either. 10. Are you exercising? If so, what are you doing and how much? Yes, and OMGSH, I'm ALMOST to the point where I can say I enjoy it. I said "almost". I'm walking about 4.5 miles per day now. I also do a lot of work on my legs. Can't do much more then that because of this darn hernia, but I will later on this summer. PS - I've found that just carrying hand weights when I walk, is improving my arms a lot!!! 11. What is your next goal(s)? To get my hernia repair 12. How are people reacting to the changes in you? Well, my family is thrilled. I have noticed specific people who are quite jealous about it and are constantly tossing in negative comments (like, when you gain your weight back, etc..) those people I just avoid. I think that 90% of my circle of people are thrilled in the changes in me. My DH told me yesterday that I'm a totally different person now. 13. Do you have any regrets about the surgery? Yes, I regret having my surgery at the place I did. The after care is horrible. I cant get phone calls returned. And they didn't believe me when I told them something was wrong. It went on for THREE months, until I was in such bad shape we all thought I was going to die!!! I've moved on and now have a new wls doctor I'm working with. 14. (New Question) Are you having any "issues" as a result of your surgery/weightloss? I have issues. Even though I had read that some people lose too much weight, mal-absorb too much, and can't get enough nutirents in - I NEVER even gave it a thought that that could be me. I just look at food and gain weight!!! I never thought I'd ever battle with not being able to eat. Every day is a battle for me now to get in enough food. I'v been fighting this battle since November. It's hard, it's depressing, and there aren't many people out there with that problems so there is no support for us. Everyone just says, "just eat more" UGH!!! If it were only that easy. I now have wls friends telling me that we just don't have anything in common anymore cuz they can't lose weight and I've lost more then what I was supposed to; they can't STOP eatting and I can't force myself to eat!!! It's become a lonely journey for me... but I do love the new me!!!!!!!!! Hugs, Laurie
