GAS!

Ugh- I am having such a problem this week. I don't want to go in public, my gas is so bad! I'm not eating any differantly, in fact, today I've been super careful because I have a hair appointment and have to sit in her chair for 2 hours. It's so bad, and painful if I hold it in. I've been taking gas-x, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me. Any advice? I don't want to leave my house and it's getting depressing! I have a big family wedding this weekend and I'm afraid to eat!

I have had long conversations with Rich's pouch affectionally named Chewie as in Chewbaca. Mine is named Igor (pronounced Eye-gor). They have a mind and personality of their own. Very vocal especially after protein shakes - Rich's more than mine but he blends his shakes in the blender with ice. Think the density makes a difference. Kathy

You eat protein bars that have sugar alcohols in them? That could be the culprit! Kathy

I have to agree with Kathy. It seems that the higher the sugar alcohol, or anything high in carbs, seems to set off the gas makers in my intestines and they don't stop for a long time! It does get quite painful at times, to the point where I can barely move! And the GasX didn't seem to touch it. Now I pay attention to stay the carbs and sugar alcohol and it has improved. Gas less often.

Oh, yeah, sugar alcohols do it to me BIG time! My pouch (aptly named "She Who Must be Obeyed" ) can handle maybe 1 piece of sf candy or I'm off and running. But sometimes it's not even that. I get the major 'gurgles' and rumblings and when I do release it - it is NOT pleasant ! My husband yells at me sometimes and tells me he's going to make me sleep out in the rain. I will sometimes take 2-3 gas-x at a time and sometimes it even requires more. Michelle

Candi, I'm so glad you posted this! I struggle with this all the time. The rumbling and the gas! It can be oh so embarassing. Hang in there and I hope we find answers!!! ~Wanda
