Checking in on Kathy
Wow, look at you, pretty lady! Love your new picture!
Thanks for checking in on me. Just got up from a very nice nap. Nice not to be woken up every hour for vital check or to stick me for blood.
I'm doing well. All couldn't have gone better. Surgery started 2 hours late due to his earlier patient being a bit more complicated but the person did well in the long run. So surgery started after 12 and I was in recovery at 3:50 so it was fairly long.
He found my pesky parathyroid easy - it was as big as the tip of his pinky and he looked at the thyroid. The nodule was smaller than the ultrasound estimated but he decided scar tissue being what it is...it was best to remove it while he was in there. The pathologist said it looked totally benign and frozen segments were fine. Final reports to come but I was never concerned about it being *anything* anyway.
They removed the parathyroid and then drew blood every so many minutes and watched my PTH drop from well over 100 down to 19. My calcium was down to 8. Think it was fairly stable overnight too which is good.
I see my surgeon in 7 to 10 days for a follow-up and see my endo this coming Friday for bloodwork and monitoring. He'll work with me on my calcium, PTH and I assume thyroid levels.
Morbid curiousity being what it is...I did step on the scale. +12. What a surprise! I love IV fluids.
Thanks for thinking of me, folks! I do appreciate all the support and love you send me.
Hugs, Kathy
Well, I am so glad to hear such positive news, I knew it all along too
Glad you are home and resting, finally. And pooh on those 12 pounds from the IV'S. It will be enjoyable watching them go bye bye in just a few days tho
Let me know if there's anything you need (I wish I could send a back rub in the mail, guess that's all on Rich )
Take care of you sweet lady!
