Product Review: AchievOne
Okay, so I've been reading a LOT about AchievOne coffee protein shakes and was in the mood for something new. I didn't want to buy a whole case online without trying it first, so I went over to GNC to check things out. They only had 2 bottles left (it seems EVERYONE'S running low right now). Mocha Java and Hazelnut, so I bought both.
Tried the Mocha Java... On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 7. Not great, not terrible. Not too sweet, kind of a weird aftertaste, can't really place it. Doesn't smell bad. Not thick or cloying.
Wound up mixing it with ice, 2 Splendas and about 8 oz of leftover Sumatran coffee in order to fini**** though... Almost tastes like an iced coffee with a shot of Bailey's in it.
Here's the stats:
1 Bottle = 9.5 fl oz
120 Calories
3 Calories from Fat
0 Fat Grams
20mg Cholosterol
200mg Sodium
5g Carbs
0 Fiber
3.5 Sugar
20g Protein
It averages about 20-45% of all the essential vitamins, too.
Cost: $2.50, bought single bottle, so a little pricey...
Overall, I wouldn't buy THIS flavor again, but I'm going to try the other one, too, and I'll let you know what I think.
I also bought some Stallone Protein Pudding and some liquid Isopure. Both things I've heard great things about but never tried. I'll try one every day or so and post the results.
I like the Stallone Pudding especially with reduced sugar Cool Whip. Drugstore.com has the Vanilla Cream on sale for $2.99 a 4 pack.
Depending on your personal protein philosophy (PPP for short...LOL!), I count the Stallone protein as if it were food protein rather than protein supplement since it is made from soy and soy isn't as bioavailable to our bodies as whey protein. Got that?
Rich and I never liked the bottled Isopures. Some folks love 'em. It just isn't us. Hope you do!
As for AchieveOne. If you have to doctor it up that much, why bother, ya know? We mix Multi-Pro IDS Cinnamon Vanilla protein powder with leftover chilled coffee, a splash of half and half and sweet 'n low. Makes a great iced latte! Love it! Definitely cheaper than AchieveOne.
Thanks for the review!

That's kind of what I was thinking, too, however I've heard some people LOVE one flavor of the AchievOne and hate the others, so I figure I'll give one more a try...
As for the Isopures, I purposely bought 2 flavors that I have CL or Koolaid on hand to mix with, in case it's really bad. I figured I'd pour 1/2 a bottle in my mixer cup and take a sip. If it's gross, I'll go ahead and add the CL or Koolaid and mix it up. One bottle has 40g of protein, so even if I mix 1/2, it'll still be worth choking it down...
I will always love my Nectar and was hoping GNC had some since I'm down to about 1/3 cannister, but they don't carry it. So, I figured I'll at least have SOMETHING on hand until I can get some more ordered...
Vitamin Shoppe sells Nectar in their stores.
Good luck with the Isopures. Having bottled stuff handy is a great thing but we just don't like the stuff plus it's pricey. So I use ziplock bag and shaker cups. I can ge****er and ice anywhere and protein shake it is!
The best price BTW that I've found on Nectar is dpsnutrition.com - most of the Nectars are about $20 a cannister.

I wish we had a Vitamin Shoppe here... No dice. Not a Trader Joe's either... We do have a couple of other small mom and pop places I haven't checked out, plus a great food co-op I've been dying to try. Plus, not that this is really germaine, but I live right down the street from the Great American Spice Company (www.greatamericanspice.com) - talk about a really cool place!
I typically order from bariatriceating.com or Vitamin Shoppe but with shipping costs, etc., I always feel like I should order as much as possible at one time, which is expensive, plus, I have a teeny-tiny little galley kitchen, so my supplements, sf stuff, vitamins, etc. are already imposing on what little space we have. If I could find some place locally that carried what I like, then I wouldn't feel the need to purchase so many cannisters at one time...
You and Rich are lucky - you don't have to "cordone off" your food stuffs...
LOL! Nope, no cordoneing off our food stuff.
We have a galley kitchen too - we are in a one bedroom condo (with a sunroom so its 976 sq ft) so space is precious. We have four glass jars on the kitchen counter with our protein powders in it. Works best given 2-3 shakes a day for each of us. I do buy over the net even though I can find some here just for the cost difference. We only go to the Vitamin Shoppe for vitamins and if we run completely out of the powder stuff.
Wish we had more room! Believe me, I am not plotting the restructure of our bedroom closet. We share one. That's tough since Rich became a Nike 'ho. LOL! I am going to be moving the rod up and putting one below it on the long side of the closet. That should almost double our hanger space. Anyway, we bought the rack today. Just wasn't feeling up to installing it. Rich scared me with his "I'll give it a try" so I think I'll do it. I'm my Dad's girl for sure. Got my own cordless drill. I can spackle with the best of them.
This place is clutter central (but nothing like my living situation with my practice marriage). I hate it and strive to rearrange it all. Now that I have focus and energy... hopefully Rich and I can make it work better for us.

I know the clutter feeling... 1100 sq feet, 2 adults, 2 children, 2 100-lb dogs and a cat... It was perfect for me and Holden when I bought it. Then all these stranger creatures starting moving in...
Some day we'll get all our sh*t in the same sock and move to a bigger home.... Darn, I was really counting on that Powerball...
Oops, I gave you the wrong website, that's for Spice Fest, which they put on and is very cool.
