Costco Trail Mix...Evil Evil
OMG! It is way to good. Cashews, Almonds, Peanuts, Rasins, and M&Ms. Overall the calories, fat, protein, carb thing isn't too bad if I just eat the recommended serving. But I find myself going back over and over for handful after handful
This treat was made by the devil I tell you!!! I just put a big piece of tape over the top with a bright orange biohazard sticker (that I got from work) over it. My DH will just have to take it to work with him tomarrow. I can't stand having it here! What a trigger. I have box after box of GS cookies in my house and they are no temptation...but this trail mix! Oh this sweet, crunchy and salty trail mix!!!
It is snowing right now and I think I am going to put it out on the back porch! Help Me!!!!
New Jen: The biohazard sticker is an excellent idea. Throwing it out in the snow, an even better idea. Scoop a little snow over it if necessary. But, let me remind you to NOT let that sticker out with your garbage! Several years ago, I brought home my scrubs that had gotten bloody in a red biohazard bag. The bag was put in with the rest of the garbage. It would have been no big deal, except a raccoon got into the garbage at the curb. The garbage man came along before I saw it and picked it up. Well, him seeing the biohazard bag became quite the big deal. Angry garbage man at my door at the crack of dawn and a threatening letter from the company. You would have thought that there were discarded body parts in this bag! It's funny to me now, but not so funny then! And yes, trail mix is evil. I have tried the Sam's Choice trail mix and I would like to pick my way thru the entire bag. I will have to use the biohazard sticker trick on a few things around my house.

We have some leftover chips and such from the Super Bowl party and I made it through without having a potato chip and I made Rich take the bag to work the very next morning. We have a big jug of pretzels leftover and I can manage to eat 2 and walk away and not turn back to them. I've managed with tortilla chips in the house (though I've asked him to remove those before).
But the best way to do things is to have as safe as environment as you can. Avoid having trigger foods around. Spouses/kids can eat crap elsewhere or just get a small bag and fini**** the same day.
Love the biohazard thing! Bet the folks at DH's work will wonder if they should touch it or not.
I used to love gorp (aka trail mix with M&Ms) but believe it or not I always found it to be a bit heavy on the M&Ms for my taste. Strange considering I'm a chocolate lover. The Mart (is in Wal) has some mixes. One has soy nuts and other nuts it in. It is pretty good. We get out the food scale and small snack size ziplocks and measure things out in 1 oz portions. We do this with nuts. Keeps us "honest".
Good luck to ya!

Man... I used to LOVE that stuff. Would convince myself it was good for me because it was trail mix...
I've been tempted to buy it a couple of times but haven't yet. The M&Ms would get me for sure... I don't think for a second I could resist them and I know without a doubt that I wouldn't keep them down low enough to keep from dumping...
Jen,
Since I'm a superfoods fanatic, I try and eat a serving of nuts every day, which is fine, the problem with trail mix is that it has stuff I don't need in it. So, I can't buy it, because I will eat it! I feel powerless over the stuff!
Other nuts that are good for you:
raw almonds
walnuts
pistachios
These are great and help with the cravings.
Good luck!
