Nothing better than a weight loss surprise
I stepped on the scale this morning for the first time in at least 2 weeks, more likely 3 weeks. For the better part of the last 2 months, I have not lost any weight. I've fluctuated between 255 and 260, closer to 260. On a lark, I stepped on the scale this morning and it read 245! I don't know how this is possible since I'm (still) not exercising and I have been compulsive eating more lately. Now, my compulsive eating post-WLS is miles better than it was pre-WLS, but still. I just don't see how I could be losing weight.
This means I'm nearing the TWO Century Club. I've lost 195 lbs. now.
I'm attending the WLS support group tonight at the hospital for the first time since surgery. I'm serious about getting my eating back where it belongs. I still keep having a shot of sugar each day, usually in the form of some peanut M&M's. I'm also snacking too much on stuff like rice cakes and SF apple sauce.
I am just stunned that I have lost 10-15 lbs. in the last few weeks.

Good for you Tom! The two century club is fabulous! You're doing great. I can relate to your struggle of eating compulsively -- I'm doing the same thing, eating compulsively but with healthier foods than before. I know that's not good, but am focusing on getting that under control.
Good luck to you with the support group and congrats on your loss!

Congrats Tom on losing the weight.
I'm not sure the scale always makes sense with what we are doing in our lives. At least it doesn't seem to work for me that way. I lost 2.5 lbs this week and I ate more than ever. I was good on my eating the week before and lost none. The only thing I do consistently and well is exercise.
I think the most important thing for us to do, is to keep our eating of bad carbs down as much as possible and do exercise. Bad habits catch up with us in the long run.
Stick close to your support group. It can only help!

I'll never understand the ups and downs on the scale. Nevah, nevah, I tell you!
But congrats on the 10-15 that you didn't expect! That makes up for the more than that, that you did expect but didn't see come off. Does that makes sense?
Good luck with the support group. I hope you find what you need to battle your sugar demon and to keep yourself on track.
Best wishes, Kathy
