Fairness

You know...sometimes things just bite. I'm sitting here eating tuna fish and Rich is sitting chowing down on a ham and cheese panini. Of course, I could have had a panini but my body doesn't do well with simple carbs. I'm sure I would only be able to eat one quarter of that sandwich but knowing my body I'd end up craving more carbs later not to mention I'd easily be up 2-3 lbs overnight. Yup, that's how my "engine" works. Sometimes it just ain't fair! I hope that down the road I can occassionally indulge like that but who knows. Whining over. Kathy

Lean Cuisine has some new panini sandwiches in the freezer section. I haven't tried one but I have seen the girls at work with them. Of course I have read the back. The carb/protein ratio isn't too bad and we probably couldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting.

I'd much rather have the "real" deal that hubby makes if I was going to have one. I'm just too fracking carb sensitive - even some of South Beach is a bit high for me. Kathy

Fair? You want fair? My sweet lovable dh gained several pounds after he turned 40. The poor thing now weighs 185 (5'10"). Ahhhh. Now let's not even discuss my 18 year old son *****gularly consumes over 2000, yes that's two thousand calories in ONE meal! Drives me nuts!! He weighs 160 soaking wet (5'11"). At least they are supportive and keep *most* of their bad habits out of the house. Seven

I think many of us have watched family and friends who can eat what they want and not gain an onch while we have to fret over every stinkin' bite. No, it isn't fair! Kathy

Kathy, I think I must be like you. My weight loss has slowed considerably. I haven't been as good as you abou****ching my carb intake. I think that is my problem. I do try to get in the complex carbs, but, lately, the simple carbs have snuck in...certainly not good for weight loss! Life isn't fair, we get that lesson on a daily basis, right? Hang in there! You betcha! I think many of us have had a lifetime of experiences that life isn't fair especially when it comes to eating and weight. When I was 28 I went to England/Scotland with my best friend. I had lost quite a bit of weight before the trip or so and was looking/feeling good. She isn't a skinny minny but far from obese. We ate identically for both weeks. It wasn't like I cleaned my plate and she ate small meals. She gained 1 lb those 2 weeks...I gained 12. No, life ain't fair. Kathy

Fairness....ugh! Every day my Kindergarten teams sits down for lunch. For me it's usually tuna salad, half a sandwich or some leftovers but my 5'7" 125 pound teammate eats whatever AND every day she MUST have some form of chocolate...usually a Hershey's Almond Bar or Reese's cups....grrrrrrr. She actually said a few days ago, I better stop on the daily chocolate since bathing suit time is almost here...she's a size 0. I'm glad the 4 pounds I put on after the ankle incident finally went away! The scale was back to 133...woo hoo. At least we know how our bodies work. And you'll be able to indulge in something like that again. I couldn't do soft breads until recently; everything had to be toasted but now it doesn't bother me at all. Keep your whinin'! We love it.

Here's my standard line for my kids when they complain about something being not fair, LIFE'S NOT FAIR - GET OVER IT!!!!! OK, so now I've given the standard, here's reality. Life isn't fair. I really haven't found ANYTHING in this world that is "fair" our court system - NOT, medical care/insurance - NOT, how about economic standing among different races - NOT, NOT, NOT. The fact that some people can eat and eat and not gain any weight is not only NOT FAIR, but it's absoulty INSULTING on all the hard work I do. My not fair grip for the day is this: I have been trying very hard to up my caloric intake. If I get up over 1100 - 1200 then I'm good. The FIRST day that I don't make that (yesterday) I gain 3 pounds overnight!!!! Yesterday I took my focus off of myself (and my eating) and spent the day working around the house and shopping... and look where it got me - up 3 pounds. I know I couldn't possible hold down a job at this point, not that I'm not strong enough cuz I'm feeling great, but because if ANYTHING else is there to distract me from my eating/drinking I don't get enough in!!!!! NOT FAIR NOT FAIR NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!! There, that feels soooo much better. Tantrum is now over. Hugs Laurie
