Butt????

So, my butt is actually shrinking, but now I have the sagging skin in my butt cheeks. I have been washing with antibacterial soap, DIAL body wash, but I've been getting rashy (excuse me!!) in my butt crack and somewhat itchy under my belly. Everyone says use powder, but what kind? I've always heard to avoid powder in the nether regions. I'm just worried that as the weather gets warmer, that it will get worse. As a huge woman, I dealt with the rash under my belly before (diaper cream does wonders) but the butt rash is a new beast!!! Thanks for your help!!! Kristen

I've always heard to use anti-fungal spray (like for athlete's foot) or deodorant - like the roll-on solid or something, which will help keep the moisture to a minimum.

If you use powder, use the type that's corn starch. Actually, you can use corn starch alone. It really will help and is better then true baby powder. The things we have to deal with, huh? Unfortunately, I'm fairly knowledgeable about this. Wish I wasn't! ~Wanda

I would use some kind of baby rash cream. Like Desitin. I have used it in the past for folds, rashes and irritation and it worked wonders. I would stay away from baby powder.

Hi Kristen, I just wanted to mention that you should go to your doc so it can be documented... makes insurance pay for plastics Good luck dear, Barb

I get the same thing sometimes and I will use the Gold Bonds (usually the generic type) and while it stings like a b*$ch for a few minutes - the rash is usually gone within a day or so. Also, like someone else recommended - DEFINITELY get doctor documentation - definitely helps with the plastics later on! For everytime you get a rash - go see or call the doc and tell them to document it and take pics. Michelle

I use a blow dryer to dry the folds of my skin after my shower, bath, etc. and then use roll-on anti-perspirant underneath my breasts. It really helps in preventing rashes. When I do get them (mostly in the hot summer months when those areas sweat), I use vaseline to clear them up. It works for me. Good luck.

I wanted to thank everyone for all the information and guidance. I went tonight and got some Gold Bond powder to try. I looked for that lotion that is supposed to prevent rubbing, but was unable to find it. I'll keep looking. I also will pick up some spray deodorant and see if that helps... Needless to say, thanks to everyone, I have a laundry list of things to try. Thanks, Kristen

GIRRRRRRLLLL....I've been there!!! The butt rash isn't just uncomfortable, it's PAINFUL!!! I HATED going through that!!!! I'm sooooo sorry!!!!! There are two things that help, and one you won't believe: 1. Mentholatum...I swear, it works SOOOO WELLLL!!!! Little warm at first, but the skin will clear up in no time! 2. Desitin. A bit messy, but it does the job. Good luck to you!!!!! I wouldn't wish that kind of embarrassing pain on anyone!!!! Gina
