Well, now that I'm starting all over again with my exercise - I need some help. This is really pathetic, but I could only do 5 minutes on a bike on the easiest level!!!! I have free access to my local Rec Center, which has bikes, stair step things, walking things, and tons of muscle building machines. My question is two fold: One: What can I do to build back up my basic strength?? (currently I have to use an electric cart at Wal Mart, that's how weak I am) Two: What can I do that WON'T cause further damage with a hernia?? My hernia is soooo gross! It's now the size of a nice cantalope!! No kiddin' I put a t shirt on today to go to the gym and I LOOK 7 months pregnant!!!! I don't want to progress it any further! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! laurie

Laurie, You didn't mention if your rec center has a pool. I would imagine some low impac****er aerobics would work well for you. Just a thought. Please remember to take it slow and easy! Chris

Laurie, I wouldn't do ANY exercise that hadn't been approved by the doctor. You really don't want to make matters worse. You may be limited to a nice stroll around the livingroom! Then again olympic training may be in your future! Just don't do anything without talking to your doc. Seven

Thanks Seven. I'm in between Docs right now though, so I've got none to talk to. But we do have a big indoor pool so but I can't swim until my arm heals (about a week). Guess I just stick with walking the track for now. Thanks for the help. Laurie

Laurie, I'm with Seven. Before doing anything, I'd talk to the doctor. Since you are so weak, exercise might not be the best thing for you right now. Chris had a good idea about going in the pool. Just take it very easy for now. In time, you'll be blazing trails. Kathy
