Hello fellow mayers I am a true luker not usually posting not sure why.I just had some plastic surgery done and I am so happy with my weight loss.I weighed the day of the surgery 132.I had new implants and arm reduction.I had Iv fluids for 2 hours and my implants weigh 450ml each .Yesterday I weighed 137 and today I weigh139.I am drinking my water and getting in 80 grams of protein but weight gain??? yikes I am scared. Is this normal.I am taking some pain meds only to sleep with a valium but I think I maybe over reacting?? I havent had the scale go up since my bypass in May it has just dropped.I want to really rest but I feel like I should get my behind outside and walk??? Sorry for the drama. How much does my implants weigh anyone know ? I dont know how to convert. It says 450 ml right and 450 ml left???

ML is in reference to volume, so 900ml is a little less than 4 cups worth - no idea what that weighs, it would depend on what it's 4 cups OF. Regardless, I think you're fine... You're going to retain fluids from the IVs as well as healing - your body's reaction to any trauma is to hold on to everything, especially fluids. Keep drinking water and it will flu**** may just take a few days, a few weeks, etc. I've heard that PS causes a lot of swelling for a fairly long period of time... I would take it easy - follow your doc's protocol for healing time, resting, etc.

Haven't done any plastics but from what I've read - EVERYONE gains weight after that. It's water weight, don't worry. I'd put the scales away for the next couple of weeks and give you body a chance to adapt to your surgery and to get rid of the swelling and excess water!! You NEED to follow your surgeon's protocal as far as walking and exercise! I have no idea how much or when on that one. Congrats on your weight loss and now on your plastics!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs, Laurie

Laurie, My neighbor and fellow WLS trooper had a complete body lift and had a 15 pound weight gain. She had lots of swelling and fluid retention. Her Doc told her that the weight could take 5 weeks to lose the water weight. He was right. And she looks so awesome now. I hope someday I can afford to have it done. Just keep on your food plan and do what activities you can without hurting yourself, and the weight will stabilize. Please dont limit your fluid intake because that really defeats the purpose. Its gonna make your body hang onto the fluid it has. So keep sipping and it will all come off. Love and hugs Laura from Ohio
